Re: Atheism and agnosticism thread
You don’t know me. I came to that conclusion because of repeated and significant failures on God’s part. I apologize; you did not come to mind, either as an example of the above, or as any other category's membership. @keenir, thanks for the apology; but, tbh, you don’t owe me one! I guess my remar...

Impressive so far, both esthetically, and linguistically, IMHO!masako wrote: ↑Fri Mar 22, 2024 7:33 pm Kenamoya abugida – A decorative script for Kala centered on a circular design.

Re: Atheism and agnosticism thread
well, with the exception of you (and maybe Rotting Bones), every agnostic and atheist I've ever encountered (online and IRL) has come to that conclusion from discussion with other people - sometimes with atheists and agnostics, sometimes with other religious individuals. You don’t know me. I came t...

Re: Linguistic Miscellany Thread
I read somewhere that the peak of linguistic diversity was probably around 15000BP (ie 15 KYA) and probably around 15000 languages. I never saw their methodology, so I can’t criticize nor recommend it. But 15000BP is about 13000BCE , which is about when the glaciers of the Ice Age retreated far enou...

I’ll go out on a limb and tentatively hazard a speculative guess that the title of this book might possibly bear some resemblance to "The Religion Construction Kit". please please please Oh yes, this is ongoing. Here's the intro on my Patreon page (this post is open to all). [/size] I wis...

(I don’t know where to post this!). I have found one or a few natural language(s) with terms for a consanguine relative’s spouse’s consanguine relative’s spouse’s consanguine relative: (for instance [sibling’s or parent’s or child’s] spouse’s [sibling’s or parent’s or child’s] spouse’s [sibling or p...

I was trying to write up something, but in the process I discovered this paper which looks quite comprehensive: https://doi.org/10.1080/07268602.2022.2157675 . It looks like it should answer most of your questions. (I can send you a PDF if you can’t access it.) I think this resource should be linke...

Re: English questions
I use one kind of distinguishing for one of them, and a different kind for the other.
For instance, italicize one, but underline the other.
Other possibilities are;
* boldface one
* write one in ALL CAPS
* write one in a different color
etc.

It should have been resolved now :) Pabappa got in touch with me and another moderator, but mods don't have the right permissions to do that sort of thing, so we forwarded on the message to the two admins, and one of them has done a reset to TomHChappell' login attempts :) There were two attempts b...

Re: I can’t log on to the CBB.
I just logged in to the CBB, and everything was as usual; no captcha, no problem of any kind. I’m still locked out for too many failed attempts. Also, when I try to register a new account, every answer to the anti-spammer CAPTCHA question is “incorrect”; including the answer that was “correct” befo...
