Re: United States Politics Thread 46
Two words: Southern Strategy. This is their go-to for everything. Abortion, class/economic issues, foreign policy...everything. It's really the only way they can exercise legislative power. And they'll use it every chance they get. Project 2025 is basically the Southern Strategy on steroids and sho...

Re: AI in conlanging - present and future
This is what AI experts have been predicting for a few years now - and I fully believe AI will be able to write novels by 2030 and will be able to consistently generate Nobel Prize worthy novels by 2034-35. I think you might be overestimating the public's willingness to award AI authorship. I don't...

Re: AI in conlanging - present and future
I've used a few of the tools out there for various things such as vocab creation, and the occasional base-line grammatical sketch, but these are programs, not AI proper. It's one thing to use a program to develop ideas, or get a "palette" to paint from, but I would never imagine using AI t...

Re: Conlang Random Thread
Reminds me of the Ithkuil script! (The name of which I’ve sadly forgotten.) How does this one work? I'm still working on it, but this is what I have so far. I spot a Nineteen-Eighty-Four reference in the words listed. Marc has included quite a few Easter eggs in the vocabulary, so you might be right.

Re: Kala updates etc.
The fluency thread today gave me reason to decide on the Tautisca word for "head" after dithering for years on what root to base it. That's quite a basic word...kudos on finding the motivation. I really like the look of this. Thank you! More new words: pikya – scaffolding; frame; rack; fr...

Re: United States Politics Thread 46
...these people protesting won't vote or will vote third-party... It's worse than that. The blindingly stupid majority of these rubes think that by not voting, or voting third party, they're actually effectuating substantive political change. IMHO it's a symptom of a lack of civic understanding. Mo...

Re: United States Politics Thread 46
I'm sure the fascists will vote. They get two options to choose from. Your civics class should have made it clear to you that there will always be at least two options. But here's a little insight into why you're just raging at clouds: "Although the Constitution doesn’t make any rules about po...

If you don't agree to getting punched with my left hand, it's your fault when I punch you with my right. Why is not getting punched off the table? Because fuck you, that's why! Ideas of false equivalence like this are why Trump will become God Emperor of America, because people like you won't vote ...

Re: United States Politics Thread 46
Anyone who believes that Trump and Biden are equivalent (or who considers not voting for Biden over Gaza) deserves the coming Trump dictatorship that will result from their stupidity. Another scenario - one that seems increasingly plausible given SCOTUS's recent shenanigans - is that Trump skates o...

Re: United States Politics Thread 46
Polls have to be taken with some skepticism... This is very dependent on the methodology of the poll, who is conducting it, and how it's funded. I would say the majority of modern political polling should be met with a healthy amount of skepticism until those questions have been answered. The propa...

Impressive so far, both esthetically, and linguistically, IMHO! Well said! Thank you both very much. Kala has reached a point where all updates are incremental and sporadic. I don't have any current plans for any major updates and have begun to dedicate more time to Amal, but the support and intere...
