Re: Elections in various countries

In Israel, Gideon Sa'ar is finally leaving Likud to found a new party. The two MKs from Derech Eretz are joining, which is an odd match: Derech Eretz is to the left of Bibi and Sa'ar is to his right (all of them are centre-right to right-wing in Israeli politics). This could possibly eat into Bennet...

Re: British Politics Guide

It places a restriction on their previous right not to go through a traumatic, irreversible puberty of a gender they don't identify with that they will have to live with the rest of their life. I don't see how it can be a mere matter of opinion unless if one is willing to consider that only cis peop...

Very long post /ˈsɪŋɔːɹiː/ [ˈsɪŋ.ɡɔːɹ.iː] Non-syllabic consonants /p t k/ - aspirated word initially, word-finally voiced intervocalically (only between "true vowels") /m n ŋ/ - two nasals cannot form a cluster, is followed by a voiced stop intervocalically (only between "true vowels&...

Re: kårroť scratchpad (necroes still welcome)

I'll start off with the five most common nominative declensions. There are three genders - sapient, animate and inanimate. /N R/ represent special vowels that are phonemically categorised as syllabic consonants along with /z/, which only appears as a syllabic consonant (non syllabic [z] is an interv...

Note: as I am non-binary I am super super biased against all the people who hate me or consider getting rid of things that help people like me acceptable losses The only reliable diagnosis for a person to be a trans is pretty much themselves thinking that they are. Psychiatrists mainly rely on self-...

I'm just not familiar with how the justice system in UK works. I've never heard of a high court before.

That's pretty bad news for any teen who is trans or questioning.

Re: British Politics Guide

I just found out about a high court decision that harms trans teens. I wonder how legally binding a ruling against the NHS by a court is?

Re: Elections in various countries

It looks like new elections will be announced within months in Israel. Gantz is really unpopular right now; he's seen as a vote stealer who gave Likud most of what they wanted. Naftali Bennett, who is the leader of the right-wing opposition to Bibi, looks like he'll be the leader of the second large...

Re: The "How Do You Pronounce X" Thread

I always pronounced the first vowel as [ɪ]. As for the second I have the caught-cot merger; I don't know exactly how this is realised as I can't hear a difference between those vowels. Last syllable [ɡoʊ]

Re: The Great Proto-Indo-European Thread's Sequel

it is just that you apparently haven't learned properly how real etymology works and how real scholars discuss their ideas, and it seems as if you have deceived yourself by your improper methodology. Nothing of the kind. Although I don't adhere to the "established" consensus regarding PIE...
