Re: Do you know conlang software tools?
There's something to be said for pencil and paper in mapmaking though. And doing it well always takes time. When you're as artistically bereft of talent as i am (I've seen videos of more elephants with more artistic talent than i have) there's something to be said for hiring someone to make a map.....

Ok so i'm finally narrowing down the rest of the stuff, excited to pretty much have my phonology and much of my orthography figured out. So now onto finalizing that grammar and syntax and start word building. Genders : Masculine Feminine Neuter My Cases so far : nominative case accusative case genat...

Re: "Hansenese" My Personal Artlang/Stealthlang
if you want it, keep it. never do anything you don't want to. i get that, just if I'm remembering correctly it was suggested I add it because it was a type of dipthong I was missing. yes you just combine/blend the two sounds. pronounce it smoothly and make it unbroken. I think i got its pronounciat...

Re: "Hansenese" My Personal Artlang/Stealthlang
you switched <u> and <ou>, not <o> and <ou>. it should be /ɔ/ = <o> and /o/ = <ou> Oops just a copy error /ɔ/ = o /o/ = ou https://vimeo.com/138071832 i think the above sounds more like /eu/ or /eo/ but it's the closest i could find Is this dipthong interesting enough or provide some element that m...

Re: "Hansenese" My Personal Artlang/Stealthlang
i'd switch <o> and <ou>. personally i think it's a bit more intuitive So now: /ʌ/ = <ou> /ɔ/ = <u> Did i understand you correct? Are /o/ and /eʊ/very different sounds? yes Can i get an example of each sound to ensure that i am understanding correctly what each sound? all i get when i google is this...

Re: "Hansenese" My Personal Artlang/Stealthlang
If you've got <sh> for /ʃ/, then <zh> for /ʒ/ makes sense. zh sounds good <x> isn't terrible; <kh> is also traditional. I knew i saw something + h for it somewhere but I couldn't remember which. I'll go with <kh>. i know I would have trouble not confusing /x/ with the /ks/ sound if /x/ was <x> Piny...

Things Decided for Stupid Reasons
Just a fun question i thought of. Has anyone decided to include or to not include someothing for really stupid reasons? Like i dropped the glottal stop from my personal artlang mainly because i hate having to constantly switch keyboards on my phone to be able to put in an apostraphe for posessives a...

Re: "Hansenese" My Personal Artlang/Stealthlang
Yay! I think i'm finally happy. I took a totally different root for my inventory, i just never was happy with what I had gone with prior to this, so I decided to look to my heritage and look that Ukrainian and i went from there. Here is my consonant Inventory. I dropped /p/ and switched out on of th...

Re: "Hansenese" My Personal Artlang/Stealthlang
English /p t k/ are aspirated syllable-initially except when preceded by /s/; part of what makes many ESL speakers sound foreign is the lack of this aspiration. Not including such aspiration will make the language easier for non-English speakers. Denti-alveolar is the term used to describe the poin...
