I'm chipping away at a computer architecture that would be common in the Safìr Alliance. Bullet points determined so far for said architecture: Optical computer Balanced ternary; 6-trit syllables (trytes), 36-trit words Can handle floats (18-trit singles and 36-trit doubles) Dataflow architecture 80...

Re: Hâlian's Alleged Scratchpad

Including by reference this post about number words in Classical Âirumâli, and this post about number words in Lessan, along with a brief overview of the language that mostly duplicates what's in the OP of this thread.

Hâlian's Alleged Scratchpad

I'm finally joining the cool kids in 2011 and getting myself a scratchpad. Expect clonging and worldbuilding stuff to be posted here intermittently. Or not. [hr] To start out: Nouns in the Lessan language are collective-singulative, with a polysingularizing noun class system, listed and exemplified ...

Re: What have you accomplished today?

It’s neither! It’s a pen I made myself out of a piece of bamboo. It’s remarkably pleasant to use — these days I use it for all of my calligraphy. Cool. It definitely adds an authentic touch to your calligraphy. Most concultures aren't using ballpoint pens after all. Absolutely, yes! My belief is th...

Re: Maybe pruning?

I would prefer to see pruning abolished. Pruning wouldn't do anything about the bot problem. Non sequitur . My stance on pruning has nothing to do with the bot problem. One thing to note is that the recent error messages have had a consistent theme of too many requests and there have been excessive...

Re: Twin Aster

I bumped into a Man in Space at LCC11 this past weekend. I quite enjoyed his talk on the Caber logograms (and learned that the stress is on the ultima, thus it's not homophonous with “caber” as in “the giant pole tossed as part of Highland Games”).

Re: Venting thread

My insurance has suddenly decided that I'm no longer allowed to go more than 30 miles in a single non-medical social trip.

The game store I wanted to revisit is 47 miles away.

They've given me a ride there before without issue.

Fuck me with a goddamn cactus.

Re: Maybe pruning?

Oh, just for a bit more context: the old board (now preserved in amber, thanks to brad's work, at incatena.org) did have automatic 1-year pruning on Ephemera. I would also trim but not eliminate some very long threads... I don't think we need 250 pages of Random. The amber has been shattered; incat...

Re: Venting thread

But if the GOP controls one or both houses, they can (and presumably will) simply refuse to certify the 2024 election results. The joint session to certify the Electoral College votes for 2024 will be of the 118th Congress, elected in November 2024, not the incoming 117th Congress. Either way, an o...
