Re: What have you accomplished today?
I’ve gotten pretty much all of the CT logosyllabic canon mapped out in my notebook. Now I can work on new symbols to supplement what I have so far.

Re: If natlangs were conlangs
All right, creator of Yidiny, a constraint requiring an even number of syllables in a surface word is creative, I’ll give you that, and actually pretty cool. But it’s totally unnaturalistic.

Technically over the weekend, but CT now has (much of) an unwieldy cuneiform writing system.

I would like to research the specific effects of ramming an asteroid the size of FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland into an Earth-like planet. (Assume it is nontrivially hollowed out but still of appreciable heft.) There are a few things I’m after: - What are the effects of a land versus a sea impact?...

Polish – Because heritage.
Latin – Because altum videtur.
Arabic – Originally because I wanted to know what star names meant, but it’s just really cool. I like the emphatic/pharyngeal consonants and the root-and-pattern morphology.

I like the idea of the Red Death reckoning! I love all the work you've put into timekeeping! I've tried this myself before, but never to this level of detail. Thank you both! Is there a similar backstory for the St Vengeance one? Not really. The guy who invented the system just happened to be a dev...

Timekeeping on Ítöð The two most important ways of reckoning time on Ítöð are the way the Tim Ar do it and the way international diplomacy does it. The Tim Ar The Tim Ar reckon years using the Count of Yar Yereu (CYY). In this scheme, there's one special, independent day ( Tékða m Hëkî Éakar ü ) at...

I have been made aware of a band called “King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard”. I’d heard only one of their songs before, to wit “Rattlesnake”, but they have some really great stuff. And they sound phenomenal in a live setting if the KEXP sessions are anything to go by.

A live rendition of “Billabong Valley” by King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. Starts at about 9:41. (It sounds weird because it’s microtonal.)
