Re: Dream sharing thread
I had quite a vivid dream last night where I was back in university and one of my professors had committed a terrible offense. This offense was not quite bad enough to go to the police about, but bad enough that the university had to take action. The department staff came together to hold a trial an...

Re: Tehemne mythology (meet the áhash!)
Definitely the latter. Note how the third time they feed him more meat. Although it's a reasonable interpretation that, after losing his fourth limb, he simply wasn't able to return.

Re: Tehemne mythology (meet the áhash)
Not very long ago, there was a man who lived here in Tisinem when there was a famine. He was hungry, and he decided to go hunt alone so he would not have to share what food he found. Everyone expected him to return before the sun set. But the first night passed, and he did not return. They sent out ...

Re: Tehemne mythology (last part of Pánimnas's story up now)
There's the last of that story, so now I can get it out of my head. Re: mythology, I'll soon(-ish) be putting up some stories about the Áhash, which are a race of innumerable lesser gods who in practice play a much greater role in practical Tehemne cosmology than the Halxeida (the nine I've been tal...

Re: Tehemne mythology
After Remehind had resided in Súrya for many years, the other gods came together in Ausheninh to decide what should be done about him and Pánimnas. "We should not let them back in," said Teteieb, Luamanh, and Ámash. "The damage they have done to Ausheninh is permanent, and so too shou...

Re: Qagun Maruhe (48-hour-challenge lang) (now much weirder and more implausible)
Thanks, this is cool! The one change I'd make is to lower the northeast side of Qepder a bit. I'm envisioning it as quite a classic conical stratovolcano; actually, this island is heavily inspired by Unimak Island, which includes an extremely conical volcano (Mt Shishaldin). Otherwise, looks great, ...

Re: Qagun Maruhe (48-hour-challenge lang) (now much weirder and more implausible)
An excellent start! Say, would you like me to make you a map of the island in full colour? I can do elevation as well. You can see some examples of my work on the Icemannic and Ankoseiwas threads. Thanks! :D It's really nice of you to offer to make a map! If you want to, that would be awesome. I'm ...

Re: Qagun Maruhe (48-hour-challenge lang)
A little worldbuilding, verbs of motion, and deixis: This is the only part where I'm letting myself get too creative at this point, so just dumping it here to get it out of my brain: Qagun Maruhe is spoken by the Maruhe people on a volcanic island at about 60°N. A map of the island is below, with th...

Qagun Maruhe (48-hour-challenge lang) (now much weirder and more implausible)
Like a lot of people, I'm breaking some of my own norms for my 48 hour challenge language (challang?). It's not going to be the most unique conlang in the world (and it doesn't need to be!) but I'm at least going to break out of my own mold in the following ways: Significant nominal case morphology ...

Re: Tehemne mythology
Around the town, there are several areas where all the roots of the trees are exposed, similar to this picture I took on Mt Kurama:

Re: Tehemne mythology
After they had wrought such devastation for so many years, Remehind and Pánimnas found one of the very last human settlements, here in these hills of Adáso. As had happened so many times before, Pánimnas felt great shame at its presence and declared that it must be destroyed. They went into the vill...

Re: Tehemne mythology
Sorry guys, I haven't completely abandoned this, I've just been busy. There will be one more installment in this particular story, and then hopefully more lighthearted things will come later. One Returns As the three exiles traversed the discarded worlds, they did different things. Heagalhne wept op...

Re: Happy things thread!
I just realized I haven't given any updates on this in a few months… I've done a really impressively good job of kicking anxiety's ass. Simply realizing how bad it had gotten helped me reprioritize and focus on letting myself take it easy, and now it's MUCH less of a concern. I actually feel calm mu...

Re: If natlangs were conlangs
Are you sure that there is actually 7 degrees of distance and not 3 degrees, but there is variant demonstratives that have the same degrees of distance and visibility? I'm quite certain. My Field Methods class in university did Malagasy, and one of my classmates focused on deixis (I mostly focused ...
