Re: Texts in bradrn’s conlangs
Note to self: I've read until: tsan naa qaŋeth thaŋ siwe lamaq thaŋ ŋandi mandaŋ phuum.
I should also do some work about onomatopoeia.

Re: An IAL
The stuff about subordinators and fractions could've used some example sentences, but the rest looks good.

Re: Texts in bradrn’s conlangs
Oh, I vaguely remember hearing someone advise against translating these sorts of standardised texts, rather than translating a text from within the relevant culture. (The other texts with that reputation are the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Tower of Babel story; all three have been...

Re: Texts in bradrn’s conlangs
The first text I’d like to present is a translation of ‘The North Wind and The Sun’. OK, I know I’m not supposed to translate that, Why? The clitic =mu expresses past tense; it is non-obligatory, being most common in introductions and conclusions. That's interesting. 👍 Another SVC: here, the direct...

Re: Twin Aster
For /ŋ/, the vowel that comes most readily to me is something like [ə~ʌ], so /i/ isn't necessarily what I would've expected either, but I thought it worth noting that it is attested; Yeah, but that one was conditioned by surrounding vowels, whereas in OP's conlang it would happen in any environment...

Re: Omni-kan syntax
Where did you see this claim? Bhat (2004) confirms it, but it’s hardly ‘most languages’: ‘That study [sampling 255 languages from WALS] indicated that two-person languages [i.e. ‘that’=‘it’] slightly outnumber three-person languages [i.e. ‘that’≠‘it’]: It appears to be possible to regard 126 of the...

Re: Omni-kan syntax
Does it make sense to distinguish between "that" and "it"? Most languages don't seem to make the distinction. But I'm worrying about the massive use of "that" that this conlang will have.

Re: Twin Aster
It's actually precedented — Middle Chinese */ʃˠæŋ/ > Japanese /seː/, by way of /sei~sej/, which the Kana orthography still reflects; Reflexes of Middle Chinese terminal */ŋ/ in Old and Middle Japanese will usually be */u~w/ or */i~j/, usually conditioned by the preceding vowel. I could see a syllab...

Re: Twin Aster
If you want some critique: m̩ n̩ ŋ̩ ɹ̩ l̩ → u a i e o You're turning a velar consonant into /i/?? n t d s z ɬ ɮ ɹ l → ɲ tʲ dʲ ʃ ʒ ɬʲ ɮʲ j ʎ / _{e,i} I would expect these sound changes to also happen at _{y, ø}. Also, I noticed that your syllabic consonants don't carry tone. How come? You've managed ...

Thanks for the replies for my question about HTML btw. I have been testing this, and it doesn't quite work... If viewing the file in my browser, everything looks as expected. But in Lexique Pro two problems arise. One is that tabs don't work inside pre tags. Using spaces instead of tabs works though...
