Oh, that looks really well developed! :o I would just advise to use proper capitalization at the front page, because people might refrain from clicking any of the links, assuming the rest of the text is poorly written.

*thumbs up* In my experience here in Sweden, when Arabs get to a conversational level of Swedish they can produce at least five different vowels.

That way I'll interesting. Are you going to write a novel or short story? What kind of creatures are the Yttesians? What is the gravity on Yttes?

Re: What have you accomplished today?

The World Lexicon of Grammaticalisation ? I quite like that, as it happens. The trick is to realise that hidden away in Appendix 2 is a ‘Target–Source List’ which gives a list of sources for each category. (e.g. it says PAST can come from GET, PASS, PERFECT, YESTERDAY.) Of course, the book’s not pe...

Re: What have you accomplished today?

I downloaded the World something-or-other of grammaticalization a while ago, and the past few days I have been scouring it for words and ideas I could steal for my IAL. People have been praising this publication so much, but I was a little disappointed. I thought it would contain a lot more than it ...

I have also thought about this thing, and would like to add that some languages have very different systems of allophony, which can really muddle things. Cf. e.g. Korean.

That's one odd book. It doesn't seem to be about linguistics at all, but about writing advise. I can't make sense of it, it has so many different topics. :?

In one of the older boards a piece of software was once mentioned, that could look through your words and tell you which minimal pairs you have. Does anyone know what it was called and if it's available anywhere?

Well, the initial post states that there is no minimum limit for what's an accomplishment. Also, isn't it harder to write poetry than normal text? :)

Does anyone else have the impression that the Gulf of Mexico looks like the head of some strange kind of creature? Hmm, if the face is on the right, then I think it's some kind of alien head. If instead the mouth is to the left, then it's Yoshi's head. Also, now it's looking to me as if Australia w...

Some notes on verbal stuff. These might change a bit. Tense No tense marking is used. Tense can be implied through time references, e.g. “yesterday”, “next month”, “in 1990”, “when I start school”, “every evening”, or “that time”, which refers to some point in time already mentioned earlier. “Now” c...

So then you use an anaphor in the latter clause, whichever that is. Maybe this could work: If it refers to the subject of the previous clause, use a pronoun. If it refers to anything else, use that , or a repetition of that noun, or a repetition of that noun with that . I'll have to try some senten...
