Re: English weirdness according to WALS
What's CALS? The Conlang Atlas of Language Structures: http://cals.conlang.org/ Thank you! As for what I think about WALS itself, I find it to be more useful for looking at broad trends - I can look at a feature (or a combination of two or more features) and see that x% have this value, y% have ano...

Re: Lexicon organisation
Personally, I haven't gotten to the stage yet in any of my conlangs where I've even needed to organise my lexicon. I imagine that if I did need some organisational tool at some point, I'd use one of SIL's tools, or Excel, or possibly my own tool (like Ryan of Tinellb has done above). Actually, for ...

Re: Lexicon organisation
Did you use Lexique to help you make it? No, there's no fancy linguistics-specific stuff here; it's just html. I use my own version of an html editor, which I've been working on for a couple of years now. I'd be very interested to see this. Is it available anywhere so I can have a look? Personally,...

Re: Resources Thread
I didn't know about these. I'm not entirely sure if these will be as useful as the grammars in the Pile, but it's certainly good to know that these are here! (Also, why do I get the message There was a problem previewing this document. when I try to open anything in the Heap?) I just tried opening ...

Re: Resources Thread
There's a dropbox or Google Docs folder somewhere which is crammed full of grammars (scans) which I've seen shared in the past. Anyone got a link? Re: Conlangjugator
Update time: -Improved project documentation. Among other things, it now includes a list and description of the officially supported regex rules. -Added icons to menus. Menus now also have rounder edges. -Bug fix: Log can now be cleared. This looks much nicer now! I'm particularly impressed with th...

Re: Conlangjugator
Honestly, I'd be happy when a sound change applier that adheres to syllabic or stress based developments comes out. While it can be mimicked, it often creates more problems (and work necessary). For example, if I use a character like (ˈ) then I also have to define when that character causes changes...

Re: Conlangjugator
What sort of features exactly are incompatible with this model? I mean that they have different semantics. You need to pick one. A good programming or scripting language has simple consistent semantics, but some features naturally fit with a different underlying model of the problem. In HaSC, for e...

Re: Conlangjugator
That's exactly why I keep asking about a Grand Unified Sound Change Applier! I was actually thinking the same thing! It would be amazing if everyone who has written a SCA were to implement something including all of their respective features. Although we may just run into this problem ... The probl...

Re: Conlangjugator
I honestly don't find it particularly surprising that so many people have made their own SCA — I made my own[1] because I wanted features or syntax not supported by any of the ones I could find, and it made for an interesting programming project. That's exactly why I keep asking about a Grand Unifi...

Pure functional Scala with recursion and immutable objects in particular lends itself to interesting solutions. I'd be interested to hear about this in a bit more detail - it sounds fascinating! I've been meaning to learn Scala. It sounds like a good compromise: easy access to a more mainstream eco...

Re: Conlangjugator
This project looks great! I like the language, which looks to be quite flexible. However, I do think the UI and documentation could be improved: It would be nice to have in the README an overview of what features this SCA contains as opposed to other already-existing SCAs. The UI is not explained an...
