Re: What languages are you particularly interested in, and why?
I'm a monolingual English speaker, unfortunately, but I spent most of my childhood and the first half of my high school years learning French. I haven't practiced it since 2005, though one of my coworkers now is from France and I think she's hoping to get me speaking it again at some point. So if I ...

Re: COVID-19 thread
Los Angeles is having the same problem with the vaccines. I'm eligible, even though I'm young, because of my weight problem and high blood pressure, but apparently there isn't a single appointment available in all of Los Angeles County for the rest of the year , if I can believe the websites. Meanwh...

Re: Dream sharing thread
Last night, my dreams were long and involved, to a degree they haven't been in a while. I'm not sure how to describe the early part, really--me and a coworker being trapped in a furniture store that turned into a maze of pathways between alternate universes? Or something? But the end made a little m...

Re: Twin Aster
I love all the work you've put into timekeeping! I've tried this myself before, but never to this level of detail.

Re: What have you accomplished today?
I haven't done anything today, but yesterday I added twenty words to my conlang (which only had 150), most with etymologies, and added two simple sentences. It's the first work on this language I've done since 2019! For the record: *Kwe phe lwà se. see 1p NOM river I see the river. *Kan le thigràn l...

Re: Click consonants?
(The second part is a good point to bring up, though, depending on what the OP's intended use of the naming language is.) Right now, the language is intended for a fringe area that won't be the focus of the story. It's sort of a "getting my feet wet" language project, since I've found the...

Re: Click consonants?
Thank you all, this is all very interesting. I like the consonant cluster idea in particular, and losing the first vowel. I took a glance at Jin @Vardelm and the phonology is quite complex--though most click languages are, I know. I've been planning on this language having "simple" clicks,...

Click consonants?
Hello all,
I'm working on a naming language at the moment and would like it to have clicks in it. Does anyone happen to know how clicks develop from non-click consonants, or know of/have any conlangs that have them?
