I strongly disagree.
Anyone’s religion is a threat to everyone; including to the religionist.
Religion is a problem for the whole human species.

no, but I'm not surprised - it seems much more common for people to talk about lice than about a louse When something (or someone) is infested with lice, we say it is lousy; we don’t say it is licy. And if we want to insult someone we might say they are a louse, and be understood. Though I think th...

She’s a science communicator.
In that video, she was doing a “deep dive” about neurodiversity, neurodivergence, neurotypical, ADD/ADHD, ASD, why the DSM changed “Asperger’s Syndrome” to “Autism Spectrum Disorder”, usw.

You don’t know me. I came to that conclusion because of repeated and significant failures on God’s part. I apologize; you did not come to mind, either as an example of the above, or as any other category's membership. @keenir, thanks for the apology; but, tbh, you don’t owe me one! I guess my remar...

@Alice: Sorry about the myalgic encephalomyelitis :-( That sucks.
@ManInSpace: Your acquaintance’s experience sounds like a horror story. Your interlocutor sounds like maybe she’s dedicated to #MeToo past the point of reason. (But I’m just guessing!)

well, with the exception of you (and maybe Rotting Bones), every agnostic and atheist I've ever encountered (online and IRL) has come to that conclusion from discussion with other people - sometimes with atheists and agnostics, sometimes with other religious individuals. You don’t know me. I came t...

Re: Linguistic Miscellany Thread

I read somewhere that the peak of linguistic diversity was probably around 15000BP (ie 15 KYA) and probably around 15000 languages. I never saw their methodology, so I can’t criticize nor recommend it. But 15000BP is about 13000BCE , which is about when the glaciers of the Ice Age retreated far enou...
