You pronounce the h in "nihilism"? It's /ˈnɐɪ.əˌlɪzm̩/ for me.

/nɪ-hɪ-lɪzəm/ for me. The first of the three feet has the main stress. The verb Annihilate has /naI@/ for the relevant foot. The noun would have just two feet, but I can only think of algebraic meanings for it. I think too much knowledge of Latin accounts for my pronunciation.

I think it's about as credible as /l/ in palm. Don't stake your life on it.

I'm trying to think of morphemes that contain non-initial h, and so far I have only ahoy, ahead, cahoots - I have a feeling there won't be many (even ahead is historically a result of affixing a- to head).

There's also behest, where the vowel preceding the /h/ isn't a schwa.

I would pronounce nihonium as [niˈhõːˌniːə̃(ː)m], which phonemically would be /niˈhoʊˌniəm/, or as [nɘˈhõːˌniːə̃(ː)m], which phonemically would be /nəˈhoʊˌniəm/.

As for nihilism, to me that's simply /ˈnaɪəˌlɪzəm/, realized as [ˈnaːe̯ɯːˌʟ̞ɘːzə̃(ː)m].

I would pronounce behest as /ˌbiˈhɛst/, realized as [ˌpiˈhɜsʲtʲ], or as /bəˈhɛst/, realized as [pɘˈhɜsʲtʲ].
