Typos in Zompist's language pages

Post by Kuchigakatai »

Maybe it'd be better to have a thread with a proper title for typo notices.

In a conversation elsewhere, dhok and H13 noticed The Numbers List has a mistake in the entry for the Wuhan Mandarin dialect. It appears that you or whoever gave you the data used the same source I consulted, ZHÙ Jiànsòng's (朱建颂) Wǔhàn Fāngyán Cídiǎn (武汉方言词典), from the Xiàndài Hànyǔ Fāngyán Dàcídiǎn series (现代汉语方言大词典).

The zompist.com page shows:
i 213
ɯ 35
niaŋ 42
san 55
sɿ 35
nəu 213
tɕʰi 213
pa 213
tɕiəu 42
sɿ 213
where 兩 niaŋ 42 (the other word for 'two') is placed instead of 'three', and 'five' is missing. This could be corrected by shifting 'three' and 'four' back ("ɯ 35" is correct, = standard Mandarin 二 èr), and adding "u 42" for 'five'. Also, this dictionary doesn't have "nəu 213" but "nou 213", and also "tɕiou" for number nine. I don't know why a schwa in your list, unless these numbers are from a different source after all.

The numbers would therefore be, according to Zhu Jiansong:

1 - i 213
2 - ɯ 35
3 - san 55
4 - sɿ 35
5 - u 42
6 - nou 213
7 - tɕʰi 213
8 - pa 213
9 - tɕiou 42
10 - sɿ 213
