2024 Translation Relay

Post by foxcatdog »

Because why not.

The idea behind these is someone provides a text (kept secret), translates it into a conlang provides you with a quick grammar and lexicon of the conlang enough to translate the text and you translate it into your conlang while again providing a grammar and lexicon sufficient to translate it then send it to the next member while providing an english translation of the text you were given (for comparison don't send it to the next relay member).

Can you give us an approximate word count of the original text?

I’ve been conflicted about this, but — you know what, if it’s still possible, I’d also like to have a go at participating with Eŋes.

(Yes, I know that for the last relay I took ages and held everyone up, but Eŋes now is a lot more developed than Proto-‘Savanna’ was then… I’m hopeful that I can be quicker this time.)

I'd say a deadline of two weeks to a month is reasonable.

Could you please tell me if I’m participating or not, and if I am, where I’ll be placed?

Speaking of which, there still seem to be a lot of question marks in the schedule:

Can you translate it in the time frame. Also no one ever told me the languages they are using.

Yes, I think so.

(Although, fair warning, these things always take longer than planned for. Always. No matter how well-planned.)

The relay now has seven members so i could start but i will have to take about a day or two the prepare the complementary grammar so you don't have to sift through 3 different google docs to find information which may not even be correct anymore. I have already done translating the text and providing the lexicon. Emily are you ready?.
