Someone created a raycaster (think Wolfenstein 3D) using zeptoforth, my S15.16 math routines, and my 8-bit ST7789V graphics driver which runs on the Tufty 2040, and after a small bugfix (a number specified was out of the range of possible S15.16 numbers) it worked perfectly. I could walk around the world created by the raycaster using the buttons on the Tufty 2040. I always enjoy it when people do neat things with zeptoforth.

Now, to make you more jealous, they have added textured walls to their raycaster.

It is still satisfying to be done with such things, as small as they may seem in the bigger scheme of things.

I made an updated version of my NTP client to better support the Raspberry Pi Pico 2 W and it worked perfectly on the first try!

I got the image correction functionality I had been working on for about the last two months from not-even-starting to generating-decent-images-the-first-time-it-didn't-SIGABRT-or-SIGSEGV today, when I had been expecting to take significantly more time to get to working. (I originally assumed the initial images it generated would be garbage, and only viewed them out of curiosity as to how fucked up they'd be, so I was pleasantly surprised when they came out looking quite good for something that had never actually exited normally before. However, I am almost worried that I just didn't correct the images at all and left them in their initial state with how good they looked.)

Edit: Aaaagh! It turned out to be too good to be true -- it wasn't actually using the images I generated.

I successfully replaced a laser printer toner cartridge for the first time in my life. (Until about a year ago, I had used inkjet printers.)

I sketched out almost an entire conlang in less than an hour before going to sleep the night before last.

As did I. The gifts I’ve gotten for others have been universally well-received and the gifts I’ve gotten from others have been wonderful (my parents got me a cymbal1 and a GoPro Hero 4k).
  1. This request was so I could have two sets of cymbals—one for the studio and another one for playing out. The second set would allow me to just grab the performance kit and go as opposed to tearing down half the studio kit and then re-strike it every time we play out.

I fixed some longstanding stability problems with zeptoIP which were introduced by unaligned access optimizations and got my new buffer queue mechanism working.

The project where my Mom belatedly teaches me her main recipes on weekends is off to a good start. The only snag is that I'm still not good at stirring "clumpy" food, like sliced vegetables or meat, in a pan. When I try that, I usually end up with fairly unevenly distributed food in the pan.
