Me three. That sounds interesting
Thank you for your interest. I warn you that it is in French.
Would you like the current version, the corrected one or the latter replacing the former?
French is fine for me. What do you mean by ‘the latter replacing the former’?
I meant that the third option would be for me to share both the current and corrected version.

Ah… I’d be fine with just the corrected version.

What does "current or corrected version" mean? Shouldn't the most current version, at any given moment, be the most corrected version?

Presumably the most recent version is yet to be officially registered/published/whatever the process for French theses at La université de MacAnDàil is.

More or less. We have three months max to correct anything in the thesis. It's generally spelling mistakes and other typos for me.

Here's an overview of my travels by public transportation today. Times are based on official timetables. The longest delay compared to that was about a few minutes.

8:57 am Leave home on my way to the next bus stop.

9:13 am Take the bus at the bus stop in the direction of the closest major train station.

9:32 am Arrive at the bus stop closest to the closest major train station. At the moment, there's no bus stop directly at the closest major train station because of ongoing construction work.

10:06 am Take the train to the town, or perhaps I should say small city, where my therapist has her office.

10:34 am Arrive at the train station in the town where my therapist has her office.

10:41 am Take the bus in the direction of my therapist's office.

10:50 am Arrive at a bus stop near my therapist's office.

12 o'clock noon - 1:00 pm Therapy session.

1:06 pm Take the bus back to the train station.

1:22 pm Arrive at the train station in that town.

1:31 pm Take the train back in the general direction of home.

1:52 pm Arrive at the major train station closest to home.

1:55 - 2:20 pm Grab something to eat.

2:46 pm Take the train in the direction of the village where my bookstore is.

2:53 pm Arrive at the train station closest to the village where my bookstore is.

3:02 pm Take the bus in the direction of the village where my bookstore is.

3:09 pm Arrive at the bus stop on the main street in the village where my bookstore is.

3:10 - 3:20 pm Buy book, and also do some other stuff in another shop.

3:30 pm Take the bus in the direction of home.

3:39 pm Arrive at a bus stop close to home.

4:05 pm Arrive back home.

Look, I'm very much in favor of using public transportation. And I wouldn't be able to afford a car even if I would have wanted to do all this by car. But I've got the impression that all this would have taken a lot less time if I would somehow have been able to magically rearrange all the bus and train timetables to be exactly the way I would have ideally wanted them to be.

People who drive cars in the big city sure spend an awful lot of time looking for parking. My cousin never wants to drive to any public place east towards New York because he assumes he won't be able to find parking. If he is driving his car, that means we're simply not going there.

If there were more investment in public transportation, it could be made cleaner and more convenient to use. It's also better for the environment.

Does anyone else have the impression that, under certain astronomical and/or meteorological conditions, the light outside can be so that, because of some weird artifacts of how your eyes and brain process what you see, 1) if you don't use artificial light, you can't see enough and 2) if you do use artificial light, you somehow can't see enough, either? Because that's how things seem to look like at my place right now.

I understand that the timetables could be better coordinated and/or the public transport systems more frequent. On the plus side, you have trains and the public transporrt runs more or less time, which is better than what we have here in Réunion.

This might be because public transportation usually follows a hub and spoke design. If you happen to live near the end of one of the spokes... That's definitely one thing that could be improved.

Yeah, particularly so around that time of the year. Better lights at your place may help a little (though artificial light that's too bright or too white can be unpleasant too...)

Glad to know I'm not the only one who's experienced that.

Presumably the one just leaving us? It wasn't too bad, although we didn't even get any snow, which was concentrated in the east, weirdly.

Oh, you also got no snow? I sort of got the impression that every single part of Europe was covered in metre-deep snow… except for Glasgow.

But that's the thing, isn't it? If you have or want to do stuff that involves leaving the house, walking somewhere or taking public transportation somewhere or driving somewhere, rain that freezes as soon as it hits the ground can easily be worse than snow. And that's apparently what they "promised" us here.

I also got that, only replace Glasgow for the Westcountry

It's usually called “freezing rain” in English, or at least that's what the weather reports say. And yes, it's an utter pain/safety risk¹

¹ Although weirdly satisfying when it lands on already settled snow like back in 2018, I think it was

I hate freezing rain, much more so than snow. Far more dangerous as a whole, I'd say.
