Happy birthday to both alice and quinterbeck!
I clarify that I announced the birth on the ZBB more than a month after it occurred.

While it does come with some minor sadness (because I've had so far no luck with the job applications), my overlord boss is extending my contract until the end of this year! Definitely gives me a bit more room to breathe on that front: even though my Luxembourgishness means I don't have to worry about a visa/residence permit anymore, I'd prefer to not have to go onto jobseeker benefits for a number of reasons. (Even if they are generous here.)
Also, my boss wants to see if one of the things I recently did in the lab is patentable, so... exciting. (Can't disclose much right now because we're starting the IP protection procedure, but it's quite funny, and great timing for me staying longer. The two events are unrelated, actually. :P)

Some might call them funny or unusual, at least, but more of what happened is that I brought a thing to my boss, he wasn't impressed at first, I told him to do something to it and then he became impressed, and then he sent me and my coworker later that evening a message saying "we need to patent this". Very unexpected.
