Unless the last uncounted votes decisively turn for Harris, to all those who voted for Trump, I really hope you enjoy the dictatorship you've chosen. Unfortunately everyone else has to enjoy it too, and not just you alone. Each and every American eligible to vote who did not vote for Harris should be considered personally responsible for what comes next. If you were too stupid or too ignorant to realize what Trump will to do this country a second time around, it is still your fault.

My thoughts exactly. And good luck to Americans for the next four years.
Also, popular vote and the Senate and the House... I can't say how sorry I am you have to go through that.

I have my doubts that it'll be only four years.

Theres apparently still ballots to count at 7am today, but I'm not sure if Harris can get 7m votes by tomorrow afternoon.

Still, no matter what, goes to show Americans would rather get rid of democracy than elect a woman.

Sounds about right to me, given that Trump won against two women and lost against a man.

And now on top of possibly losing democracy, we have to deal with smug Trump cultists

Their latest thing is apparently to gloat, or complain (not sure which -- glomplain? they do a lot of that, anyway) that the polls predicted a Democrat victory. (Whereas in reality, all media have been reporting for months that a Trump victory was likely.)

I also think the staff is broken over Ukraine now - within a year, Zelensky will be either dead, in gulag, or in exile. Things haven't been kind to him and all freedom-loving Ukrainians, ans without support from the USA, things will get very bad. So Trump will end the war in Ukraine - but in an unacceptable way.

Also, this is of course very bad news in the climate crisis, too, with a proclaimed climate change denialist at the helm of the already worst offending nation.

When it comes to politics, a lot of people seem to have a kind of script inside their head, with clearly defined roles for themselves, their friends, and the people with whom they disagree, and they assume, as a matter of course, that everyone says the things predicted by that script, no matter what people are actually saying.

Speaking of Zelensky, I was amused (and impressed) by his diplomacy:
Zelensky wrote: I appreciate President Trump’s commitment to the “peace through strength” approach in global affairs. This is exactly the principle that can practically bring just peace in Ukraine closer.
It’s a pity that Trump is too fond of Putin for this to have any effect whatsoever.

For those who wanted to stick it to the Dems on Israel/Palestine, I really hope you are happy now. Isn't this the result you wanted?

I both agree and disagree with your point. Agree, because, well, fuck all increase-of-fascism enablers. But disagree because Trump is just so far fucking ahead right now. Makes me wonder if it would really have made a difference if even all those who staid home over Palestine would have voted for Harris.

This is a problem with overly focusing on the economy. You may get a self-proclaimed greedy person (along with his other faults of course). Morality should trump the economy.

PS also overly focusing on immigration/people moving house across countries. It just plays into the xenophobes' hands.
