Aside from political news, there was a massive snowstorm yesterday and I took today and tomorrow off from work. Yesterday the roads were terrible and I barely made it home. I have no idea whether things have improved since then, however, so it could turn out that I took both days off without justification. My family is really worried about me going to work, particularly since I got stuck in heavy snow on my way home yesterday, and have insisted that I avoid work for now. My brother is considerably wealthier than me, though, and doesn't really understand my precarious position in the workplace.

Sent an ask to my job asking for some accommodations for my disabilities (autism, anxiety). Just not having too many days in a row (I work part-time, about 32 hours), and being away from the louder positions. I really hope I get them, it would really make my life a lot better. My supervisor is a chill guy, but I dunno. It's making me worry.

Good luck.

Thanks Raphael
They got back to me, says we're going to elaborate in person. I hope I get what I want, because I need less stress in my life. I need this so badly. I am scared of them using this to bring up times I've screwed up so they can discipline me, or even nothing getting across.

I accidentally gave my debit card info to scammers. Probably won't cost me much money, as there isn't much in the debit card right now, but my pride is a bit hurt.

Looks like my car got pretty badly damaged from driving through so much snow. The driveshaft got bent and will cost thousands of dollars to replace. Considering the car itself is hardly worth that much, I am honestly not sure how to proceed.

Get another quote - a driveshaft replacement should be more like 500 bucks. That still sucks though. Here are some options I would consider:
- Ignore the bent driveshaft (depending on how bad it is will eventually lead to various levels of other things breaking)
- Sell the car as is to a scrappy, you might get a grand for it (you'd be surprised - a guy I know crashed into a tree and destroyed the front end of his crappy high-mileage Hyundai and still got about 500 bucks US for it), and buy yourself the cheapest second-hand toyota/honda you can find
- Try and sell the car on facebook marketplace without mentioning the bent driveshaft (morally questionable and carries a very slight chance of legal action, but a profitable route), and buy the second-cheapest toyota/honda you can find
- Try replacing it yourself. Find a video about it on youtube and wing it. Would be cheaper than getting someone else to do it but more work.
Hope you work something out!

is it really an option to add malice to misfortune...

I didn't eat most of my lunch from a biweekly work outing, and thus missed out on some middle-eastern food, because I was (and am) feeling a bit nauseous, probably because of bad food I ate last night. I'm wondering if I should just drive home or not (as I'm not feeling the greatest, but being at home won't make me feel any better).

Update: got the accomodations! It's informal and not with any kind of record, but whatever works

It turned out that going home was a good idea, as I ended up doing a really big vomit (which all ended up in the toilet).

What would have been the alternative - booking a hotel for the night?

Vomiting at work, then going home.

So the latest revisions to Meta's community standards explicitly allow a carveout to their protections for queerfolk in order to let people call us "mentally ill". This has prompted a flurry of departures within my friend group, mainly for Bluesky. I'm not interested in adding yet another platform to my raft of communication apps, but I suppose I'll be compelled to in order to avoid losing touch with certain folks.
Personally, I feel like Meta's just being a bit more forthright about how terrible they've always been. (It's not like reporting hate speech against QUILTBAGs ever produced any meaningful response on their part--but, boy howdy, would they slap me with a warning if I dared to refer to myself as a "faggot" on there!) Some of my friends have argued that this amounts to shifting the Overton window of allowable trash behaviour there, which is probably true, but since I avoid making public posts, I'm not sure it will affect me much. I guess we'll find out.

Only my second week back at work and already I've had to write off a day due to an ME "event".
