I also asked about the bots, and the guy really didn't know anything— he didn't even know phpBB was widely available forum software. I'll have to pursue it with phpBB.

The weird thing is that these absurd numbers don't seem to slow the board down.
The bots are causing the too many errors thing again

This forum thread also seems to be discussing similar issues as us:

Yah, saying it wasn't causing errors was tempting the fates.

And now we're down to 55 guests again. This keeps getting weirder.

This is not that important, but I noticed that, when I look at my own user profile, the board no longer tells me what my most active topic and most active thread are. It still tells me that for, as far as I can see, everyone else here. Any ideas about that?

No idea, but I can’t see mine either.

It looks that way for all the highest posters here, around 5000 or more.

AI is trying to conlang again*...
perhaps we should consider password-protecting the conlang topics...
to reserve them for humans...

(*unless the NSA starts a list...)

Was tried, somehow didn't work for some reason.

I have never seen a logged-on users only section on the forum...
but it would only be effective in the long term, when the bots "understand" that there's nothing to steal...

And one point, I think a few months ago, zompist actually restricted the entire ZBB to logged-on members. For some reasons, which I don't understand myself, this somehow did not decrease the bot problem in any way. So a short time later, zompist took it back.

Currently, the number of bots fluctuates wildly. Most of the time, they are well below concern (often less than a hundred), but occasionally they swell enough to cause problems.

Forgive me if this has been addressed elsewhere, but is there any hope for getting the preserved incatena.org board to show up again? It still throws a Dreamhost error page.

As far as errors on this site are concerned, I thankfully haven't noticed any. Everything loads pretty fast for me.

Try it now. Dreamhost disabled it for some reason; I just renamed the directories and I can access it again. Maybe it was a bot attack.

Huh. In Brave it continues to give me the same error and the browser says the site isn't secure, but Chrome has no trouble with it. Thanks!

Brave is probably cacheing it. You can try refreshing the page, or wait till Brave forgets its cache. :)

Has this happened again? I can't access http://incatena.org anymore.

Edit: no, sorry, the problem was on my end. Ignore this please

Not an error or a problem, but the Board just told me that with me being hidden, there were no visible registered users at all here, not even the usual Google- or Bing bots. I don't think I've ever seen that before. A bit weird.
