Tungusic? I want to say Manchu, but I'm assuming that it's not (unless the romanisation is seriously quirky)

Tungusic, yes... sorry for the slow response...

What do capital ⟨N⟩ and ⟨X⟩ represent in the sample text?

The vowel system seems on the simple side, so is this a rendition of Xibe?

Xibo it is! Next up?

Bradrn: Uvular nasals & fricatives, IIRC.

Oh wow lol, didn't realise I'd got it, anyway here's the next one (it's a poem so the backslashes are line breaks).
Pusha Magh na Khyari ngyabo/Ling palma na sagun ngyabo/dhon puru tata tosya puru jhajha/woicha lai kappo thaal syang phaannan na tite tiwar/chhaigo swabo, lapsol swabo, musya koya phibo/aaul bhannaam tainga woche ngwanai sya yang rung kheche.

Reformatted in case anyone else dislikes the backslashes:
Pusha Magh na Khyari ngyabo
Ling palma na sagun ngyabo
dhon puru tata tosya puru jhajha
woicha lai kappo thaal syang phaannan na tite tiwar
chhaigo swabo, lapsol swabo, musya koya phibo
aaul bhannaam tainga woche ngwanai sya yang rung kheche.

yim puru syala kheke chhangma dhongnan,
Golan puru thutu chhangma dhongnan
simi puru syang phannan tite tiwa swabo
chhaigo swabo, lapsol swabo, musya koya phibo
aaul bhannaam tainga woche ngwanai sya yang tamma kheche
Now let me guess: Sino-Tibetan?

Oh, good! I like guessing Sino-Tibetan languages. :)

Now: do the digraphs ⟨bh dh jh⟩ represent voiced aspirates/breathy voiced stops? If so, that should narrow it down a bit.

I have no reason not to think so given what I know about where the language is situated.

Nope

(I'm quite glad, this is my first sample that hasn't been guessed outright in ages).

It's classfication is slightly uncertain but Himalayish doesn't appear to be a group it's been put in.

Bodic then?

(At this point I don’t really have a clue what it could be, and I’m just guessing in the hope that I eventually find the right branch…)
