My wife has likely gotten Corona. Tomorrow she'll be tested. If she really has Corona, I (and my three kids) have to quaranteen for at least ten days :(.

Oh shit! That's not good at all! All the best and good luck!

I don't really like correcting a post like that, but just in case:

Meine Frau hat sich warscheinlich Corona zugezogen. Morgen wird sie getestet werden. Wenn sie richtig Corona hat, dann müssen ich (und meine drei Kinder) über zehn Tagen in Quarantäne :(.

(In formal German, the word "werden" is probably necessary where you put it; in everyday speech, it can be left out.)

Please do! I'm here to practice and learn :).

I doubted whether to use "muss" or "müssen", but since I wrote 'children' between parentheses, I chose "muss".

I'm always in doubt whether to use it with passives, as in Dutch we don't use it, and it's a pitfall when speaking German.

Wǒ zài Táiwān yídìng yào yòng fántǐzì, kěshì zhèngcháng yòng jiǎntǐzì.
Of course I have to use Traditional Chinese in Taiwan, but I usually use Simplified.

You always have to use it to form passives. The issue here is that colloquial German is quite content to use the non-past with future meaning when a temporal expression like morgen makes the time of the action clear. I find English-speakers in particular have a marked tendency to overuse the future construction with werden due to L1 interference.

Rwy'n darllen nofel wedi ei leoli yn y bedwaredd ganrif ar ddeg a thynnir fy sylw gan yr awdur yn defnyddio ymadroddion sy'n, mae'n amlwg, ddynwarediadau o rai Saesneg.
I'm reading a novel set in the fourteenth century and I get distracted by the author's use of expressions that are obviously calques of English ones.

Rwy'n siwr taw dim ond llafar maen nhw'n swnio iddo fe a i'w ddarllenwyr, ond i finne ŷn nhw'n anghytûn.
I'm sure that to him and his readers they just sound colloquial, but to me they're jarring.

That can't be it, my native language is Dutch, and we definitely use the non-past all the time for future constructions. However, we do not use an extra form of the equivalent of "worden", so that's a recurring source of errors for Dutch people speaking German. For example, "Das Auto ist gekauft worden" is just "De auto is gekocht" (or "De auto werd gekocht") in Dutch.

Anyone else remember Eeeeish? someone posted a carbon copy of it on r/conlangs today, and it's got me thinking about old ZBB memes from 2004. Things like saying "oovil" instead of "evil"

Táim t'réis ciorcal comhrá a chlárú gur thánag air ar suíomh Duolingo. Is dócha nár mhiste dhom athbhreithniú beag a dhéanamh roimh ré,
I just signed up for a conversation group that I found that I found on the Duolingo site. I guess it wouldn't hurt to do a little revision beforehand.

Although I'm on Discord servers where a few people speak Serbian, I can rarely practice it.

Aon uair amháin roimis an gcruinniúchán fuair an diabhal cait sin agam éalú orm. D'aimsíomair é roimis tosach an chomhrá ach rabhas go fóill trím chéile agus ró-chúthail aon rud a rá lena chois de réir na meirge ar mo chuid Gaelainne. Ba dheacair dhom ag tús níos mó ná cúpla focal dh'athint, ach chuaigh sé i bhfeabhas fé dheireadh. Eachtra dob é agus is dóigh liom go ndéanfad athuair é an deireadh seachtaine seo chúinn.
An hour before the meet-up that asshole cat of mine went missing on me. We found him before the chat started but I was still discombobulated and too shy to say anything to boot on account of how rusty my Irish is. At first it was difficult for me to make out more than a couple of words, but it eventually got better. It was worthwhile experience and I think I'll do it again next weekend.

Minä yritän oppia suomea. Se on kiinnostava kieli.
I'm trying to learn Finnish. It's an interesting language.

Nyt sataa lunta, joka on epätavallista. En luulen, että olen koskaan nähnyt lunta huhtikuussa aiemmin.
It's snowing right now, which is unusual. I don't think I've ever seen snow in April before.

Nō ēhea rauemi āu ako o te reo Dinka?
What resources are you using to learn Dinka?

He aha te tikanga o te kupu 'ɣɛn' e toru te whakaputanga i ia rerenga? Ko 'au', ko 'haere' rānei?
What does ɣɛn mean that shows up in all three sentences? Is it 'I' or 'go'?
