Oh, I'd say even something that, from a grand historical perspective, turned out to be "just a passing fad" might still be great music, and can be unique, too.
Yes. As you certainly know, I am much into prog rock, which is often considered a fad, or worse, an aberration of the early to middle 1970s that has been mercifully ended by punk rock and heavy metal, and those who are still into it were just nerds who have missed the boat.
How do you feel about djent?

What happens when someone belongs to one side of the divide but prefers the policies of parties on the other side? Do they cross sectarian lines to vote for the party more inline with their views or simply abstain from politics in frustration?
There are several parties who cater to neither side, incuding Alliance, the Greens, People Before Profit and Cross-Community Labour Alternative.

Djent is not my kettle of fish, and I do not consider it a part of the prog genre, even if it has been strongly influenced by it, especially prog metal. There seems to be a tendency among metalheads to use the adjective progressive as an exaggeration of speed ;)

:) Thank you! It was one of those things that just hit me randomly and then morphed into something better over a few iterations.

Speaking of alternate takes, I think I have one further improvement:

🎵 I’m Popeye the Spider-Man
I’m Popeye the Spider-Man
Comes with great ability
Great responsibility
I’m Popeye the Spider-Man
🎵

Brings it more in line with the OG quote, I think. Somehow it makes the closeness of the end rhymes not seem so bad? (Though that’s subjective…)

In German, "Spaghetti" is the standard word photographers tell you to pronounce when they take your photo, like "cheese" in English. Did you get photographed, Man in Space?

Hey, they made their way across the ocean to the US, so why shouldn't they have gotten across the Alps?

Italy had a huge impact on Germany after WW2 not only for food and as a tourist destination, but (to a lesser degree) on language. My favorite example is Rucola instead of native German Rauke.

Obvious questions: What words do other languages use? and Are they all foodstuffs?.

I had kind of suspected that, but felt I couldn't leave it without a reply anyway.

No. It's the Random Thread, and I was being random.

My landlady and a few of her family members are doing repair/construction work on our balcony involving a tool that looks suspiciously like a flamethrower.

Well, it probably is a flamethrower. Balconies have an asphalt layer to make them waterproof, and that must be heated to work it - with a flamethrower.
