Because it’s easier and more concise when talking about cultural topics? I and my family do the same thing, actually — we constantly use words from Hebrew, Yiddish and Afrikaans when we speak, especially about religious topics.

Because my home language is mostly (~70%) Chinese

I meant in the original orthography, in which they are likely to be entirely opaque to the audience.

Because I am more used to typing them through an accentless pinyin-to-character system

It would probably be good to put it in terms the people reading the text can readily understand.

Sorry if that came off a touch brusque; reading over it, the whole "tone doesn't carry through text" hits me (it was at least meant as an "I don't understand what I'm seeing" sort-of "why?", but I'm not sure it comes out that way when read.

On the first Friday of college, Mom demanded I either attend the local Bible study or be sent home earlier — every weekend was mandatorily spent at home (Mom blamed Dad, Dad blamed Mom)

I am basically a dead man walking. My relation with my assigned coworker is screwed because I can’t find the components from the bins/rack myself sometimes and I am often confused.

Also my brother went out for a Bible retreat and may have gotten covid. The test was contaminated with food. He also punched his computer so it is in his university tech help place. No he brought it back as part of his mandatory weekend return home

Also my post-work hours are now officially scheduled as follows:
7-8: help mom research stuff for her new part time job
8-9: 50 push ups etc
9-10: read religious books

Oh, don't even. To be an Eddythread, there need to be multiple people shouting good advice into a black hole for at least six months.
