Vowels shorten in closed syllables:

Coda [ŋ] > [w]
['joːlə 'saːʔi lɑv'iːlə 'ɑwkə 'aːkə]
Stress is marked by an acute when not on the initial syllable, otherwise accents are removed as a part of a drive towards orthographical simplification; efforts to realign the consonants meet with resistance and are unsuccessful, however.

Labialization of consonants rounds, raises, and backs following vowels and then is lost.

People regain access to ancient texts and linguists figure out "antu" originally had [ŋ], and people decide to try re-adding it, and are partially successful; the difference is that it's now prenasalization:
['joːlə 'saːʔi lɑv'iːlə 'ɑ
ŋku 'aːkə]
Long vowels are orthographically doubled:
Yoola saa'i lovííla antu aato

Vowel length is lost.
['jo.lə 'saʔi lɑv'i.lə 'ɑŋku 'a.kə]
Tense vowels become marked with an acute, note
[ɑ a] a á
[i] í
[u] ú
[ə o] o ó
And t is finally replaced with k.

[ɣ] lost before a high vowel; becomes [j] elsewhere. Loss of [ɣ] creates diphthongs where two vowels are brought together.
['jo.lə 'sai̯ lɑv'i.lə 'ɑ.ŋu 'a.jə]
[ə] becomes reanalysed as having an underlying a vowel.

I'm starting to think we're just going in circles with this one.
I-mutation.
['jo.lə 'sɛi̯ lɛm'i.lə 'ɑ.ŋu 'ɛ.jə]
Loss of diacritics after spelling changes to accommodate i-mutation.
