Which unfinished project should I get back to?

Post by Ares Land »

I have the unfortunate habit of never finishing conworlding projects.

Maybe for 2022 I should get back to one of these projects. I'm not sure yet which.

Does any of these projects sound more interesting than the others?
  • An alternate history where the Roman empire survives to the present day. Done right, if I may say so myself, compared to the way these are usually done. (Needs some serious rewriting, though, and better maps, and I have better resources on what should happen in the Americas during that time)
  • Voigari; alternate Italian from that timeline. (All I got is a lot of paradigms. It could be fun to tackle syntax.)
  • The Bugs, or my own take on what creepy hive-mind aliens would actually be like.
  • Yttes. A very technologically advanced far-future society. Plus some secret history of our own planet. (Ideally I'd love to have a conlang to go with it, but I can't promise anything on that one.)
  • Simbri. A polysynthetic language with root-and-pattern morphology.
  • Historical atlas of the middle-seas. (A history of the vaguely renaissance world where Simbri is spoken.)

My favourites among these would be the Bugs and the Middle Seas. I love the Bugs, but I'm not sure how much more you can do with them, while there's still a lot left to do with the Middle Seas.

Also, do I get it right that except for Alternate Rome, all of these are in the same con-universe?

Do I have to choose?

(Though if absolutely required, I’d be most interested in Yttes, followed by alternate Rome and Simbri. And also the Bugs. And everything else too.)

That's correct.

I have to choose in any case :) My free time is unfortunately severely limited.

My commisserations.

These two sound the most interesting and intriging.

I agree here as well.

I could have sworn you had a conlang for Yttes already. No?

I believe they did, but might've scrapped it.

i do have a conlang for Yttes, but it's kind of a very early sketch. There's a lot more to be done on it, compared to Simbri or Voigari.
(I'll probably end up scrapping a lot of it; that's often the way I do things.)

Voigari sounds most interesting to me, but I guess the ship has sailed.

Thanks everyone for answering this! I guess it'll be Simbri then (sorry Zju, and all the others who picked something else) followed by the Middle Seas.
