Vocabulary thread

Now that Lexember is coming to an end I figured I'd create a thread just as a collective place to innovate vocabulary. There will be no letters-of-the-day or themes here, but rather a continuation of the free-for-all that followed running out of letters on the Advent calendar.

to avoid the algorithmic production list effect,
it might be a good idea to add, to each word,
- an etymology,
- a history,
- a description,
- etc.

If I were to create a protolanguage for this I would still at some point run into having words with no histories, it would just be at one or more steps removed.

In these cases I am just trying to build up core vocabulary which is rather opaque. Take 'sheep' or 'cat' -- the vast majority of modern English-speakers would not be able to give you an etymology.

I wasn't talking about false etymologies,
but rather about your modus operandi...
do you mean that you build your lexicon
like an algorithmic word generator,
but there seems to be a certain pattern...
the goal being to motivate participation
to give ideas, desires to continue the construction...

Yes there are patterns in the words, e.g. -h(a) is a highly productive feminine animate suffix, -em is a common diminutive suffix used in things like terms for baby animals (originally they did not all take the suffix but it spread through them by analogy), verbs have a relatively limited set of ablaut patterns, and so on.
