I dug out some of my favorites from a long-gone caption contest website

You know how, on social media, people sometimes post weird images with the message "caption contest"? Well, long before social media in the modern sense existed, back in the 1990s and 2000s, an old friend of zompist's, Greg Galcik, had a website where he posted user-submitted photos with edited caption contests. He eventually had to take down his website because it kept getting hacked, but about ten years ago, when parts of the archives were still online, I downloaded them. More recently, I checked out my local copy to see if I still liked anything there. Now, many of the captions haven't aged well, to put it politely. Some were in pretty bad taste. But some have, in my opnion, hold up fairly well. So I thought I might post a few of my favorite ones.

To bring the photos in line with today's ethical standards, I've blurred all the faces I could find. I think that makes it OK to post them here, given that the website was, IIRC, never commercial, it's long gone now, and I'm not trying to make money with it, either.

The caption contests were edited, so you had to get your proposed captions past editors to have them show up online. After each photo had gotten a number of accepted captions, it was archived.

I myself got three captions accepted in the time when the website was up and running. Here they are:
