On the second entry for "whist" at dictionary.com it is defined as "another word for while while while while while". Why is "while" said five times in the definition? It seems strange.

That entry cites as its source the Collins English Dictionary,
whose entry for whilst looks like this:
So the issue is that the original links to five different senses of
while, but whatever method dictionary.com uses to scrape its sources neglected to condense them to one word.
