Elnessy script (Elisah's scribbles)

Hello there!

I finally managed to jump onto the new board after being more or less active on the old one, mainly for the West Nisha language I based on Latin, yet another and random Romlang.

This thread is mainly to serve for development of a script that is supposed to function as a way to transcribe a neighboring language, still being under heavy development in early stage. Also, I'd be glad to receive not only criticism but also different approaches to redesign the scribbles to form them into an usable script. And that'll be the secod hardest part. The most puzzling one will be to even find out what the characters are.

I based the characters/script on scribbles of a 3-4 year old female stuck in the body of an aging, nowadays 31 years old woman suffering from a severe form of epilepsy and with her special condition lowered intelligence. When I first met her in my job, I noticed she's not only into phantasy but apparently even stuck in some kind of phantasy world. The details aren't worth writing down but what kept me fascinated is her kind of writing. Sometimes she would just mimick regular, adult writing (being more or less successful) and sometimes own symbols, characters or whatever it's supposed to be.
Those symbols are now what I designed to be the numbers 0-9.
When she returned to the hospital I immediately got along with her, liked spending time for recover and being well enough in order to return to home. I enjoyed it. And asked her straight away to write down even more symbols. Surprisingly, she accompished what I was pleading for and I later used it as the base for my set of characters. For the next months we had tons of fun and loved working together with her mom too, those were great people.

So here we go.

First off, I'd like to publish the raw scribbles.

I extracted a set of characters and asked my girlfriend to create svg from that.

Recently I finally had the time to work on the set of characters again and wanted to stylize them all to facilize the usage and make them visually much more appealing. However, it turned out to look a bit "Japanese" and I'm not content with that yet. Also, I notice there are apparently 2 duplicates I still need to overhaul.

So that's the current state and some fresh ideas or feedback would be great.

The desired conlang will be an offspring of PIE with a clear hint of Anatolian. As written before, it's all still in early development.

Will keep this thread updated but don't expect updates daily.

This is really lovely! It’s rare I see a script with such a coherent style — and I’ve seen a lot of them. I’m really hoping you can fully develop these into a proper conscript. (Given you have 63 characters, I suggest some form of syllabary.) The only criticism I might possibly have is that one or two characters look slightly out of place, but even these need only slight adjustments. (Specifically, in your image: second from the top on the leftmost column, first from the top and sixth from the left, second from the top and fifth from the left.) Also, some of them have slightly different stroke widths, though I’m sure that’s accidental.
