Can you clarify what you mean by ""averse to conflict""? That's exactly a phrase I would use to characterise myself, but what you're talking about sounds nothing like me.

Re: Confusing headlines

I've given up on hyphenating sentences-as-modifiers. Having to remember to hit the dash rather than the spacebar seriously slows down my typing, which leads to a desync between the speed of my brain coming up with what to write and my fingers writing it down.

Re: Lexicon management?

Probably the main reason I'm still using spreadsheets is that I highly prioritise being able to filter, not just search. And speaking of search, being able to search in just the translations is rather nice, especially if you have a prose discussion as well.

Re: Conworld random thread

Would we teach children that there are 24 hours in a day, 60 minutes in an hour, and 60 to 61 seconds in a minute, dependiing on the minute? It feels more likely to me that, assuming we're still using 24:60:60 time by the time it becomes a problem, the extra seconds would just be all added to the e...

Since I gave away my old VR trackers, and the straps I wore them with, I needed to get some new ones for my newer set of trackers. I just finished sewing them from elastic fabric and some mount plates my friend printed for me.

This is broadly the case for me in the UK, too

Care to explain? Right-click, press ‘Inspect element’, and remove the background-image from the <body> tag. Thank you, I didn't know of this feature before! But in this case, the resulting greyish blue background is too dark. Also remove the background-color attribute in the CSS (or change its valu...

Re: The Great Proto-Indo-European Thread's Sequel

The pronoun *yo- IMHO may be related to the *-yo which is suffixed to the thematic genitive singular in many non-Anatolian IE languages, and may once have been an attributive marker added to clauses and noun phrases functioning as an attribute to a noun phrase. (Commenting here rather than in the O...

Wow, thanks. I didn't realise anybody still cared. We do care. Last time I posted here and saw your name at the start of the thread, I was wondering whether you were still around, maybe just lurking... No, I'd got pretty uninterested in visiting the board, as there really weren't any threads I care...
