Re: Brassica SCA [v0.2.0]
Backreferences can now occur in the environment I'm having trouble with this. I'm trying to get it to perform the change C → / # _ ˈ V @1 C but it doesn't like it; when the conditions are there it just plain doesn't do anything. The rule is otherwise fine since without the "@1" it works (...

Re: The Index Diachronica
I’m not quite sure what the ‘stuff’ or the ‘thingy’ is meant to be, but the basic workflow is as follows: Make a ‘fork’ of the repository on GitHub, to get your own copy of the files which you can edit. Make whichever changes you need to make to the files. For this purpose you might find GitHub’s w...

Re: The Index Diachronica
Yo I'm trynna make a request thingy, am I supposed to add new stuff to the thingy or replace the stuff that's there? I got no idea how Github works (or what it is for that matter). I feel like I'm probably supposed to add new stuff.

Re: Linguistic Miscellany Thread
Those are some really interesting papers. It's nuts that Vanuatu at one point had 138+ languages within a population of under 80,000.bradrn wrote: ↑Sat Jan 13, 2024 5:30 pm (The author has many other good ones, by the way, all open-access on his site: http://alex.francois.free.fr/AFpub_articles_e.htm)

Re: Darren's scratchpad: Pchekeho phonology
Ignore this, this is now a Mitsiefa thread. Pchekeho is relegated to the deepest recesses of my brain (i.e. not very deep, there's not very much room in there) Pchekeho Pchekeho is just a placeholder name. This language is like Maxakalí combined with Karajá, Northwest Mekeo and Skou. It's got no cor...

Darren's Mitsiefa Thread
I'm feeling productive today, so here's a scratchpad. I've managed to avoid posting any of my conlangs over the past four years (discounting the relay) so it's probably about time I shared something – and no, there isn't something I've been working on for four years, there's just something I've been...

That's wierd. "one hundred one" just feels *so* American. Like "faucet" or "sodder" or intransitive "with".

Re: 101 pronunciation.
How do you say numbers like "101"? Like "one hundred and one" or "one hundred one"? I say "one hundred and one". Math teachers at school told us not to say "and" in numbers like "101", "102", "103", etc. telling us that...

It's definitely faster now, and I haven't gotten any error messages yet (touch wood) edit: Scratch that, for some reason I can't access some old threads – first one I noticed was Ergativity for Novices, then bradrn's scratchpad, and also "Romance-Specific Word Evolution Game", "Transe...

Re: People shooting guns up in the air to celebrate New Years Eve. Dumb idea.
Ingeniously, a bullet shot directly up will lose enough of its initial energy so that when it falls down (possibly onto the shooter), it will be fairly harmless. If the bullet is shot at an angle, enough of the energy is retained so that it can still cause a fair bit of damage, but it will hit a fai...

Re: Interlingua... a review
If Interlingua's main aim is to be a written pan-Romance language, then having plurals in -s is a no-brainer. If it wants to be a spoken global auxlang, then I don't know.
