That's probably the goal of the wh...

I was referring to xxx. He's not a leftist. Despite all the references to Marx, he wants to revive the French Colonial Empire. No, I would have liked each civilization to have been able to fully develop what it had to offer, rather than adopting ours, or worse, the steamroller of globalization... T...

Fatalism is our my reality. Suit yourself. Trump can only gain from this politically You have less patience than the media. Meanwhile Biden is already struggling to keep himself afloat in this race. I can't argue with you there...but you tallying ballots in July just seems strange.

Learning the phoneme inventory is a one-time up-front payment, because you do it once and it never needs to be added, augmented, or repeated. seems completely legit...no notes, keep going I’m not sure if this is meant to be sarcastic or not. then I have failed to properly impress you in my conlanging

Re: Elections in various countries

Perhaps 'bigotry' would be a more fitting description. not even that, I think it's above all social and cultural... there's a certain attachment to a common destiny carried by a common culture, which constitutes a nation, much more than a people... tomorrow all French people would be black wouldn't...

Re: British Politics Guide

One good thing about the UK system is the fast transition. Election Thursday, new government Friday. I'm curious, though: this morning Sunak went to the king and resigned, and an hour later Starmer dropped by to be invited to be prime minister. So for an hour there is no government. What if somethi...

This is one of those cases where "antisemitism", "anti-zionism", and "anti-Israel" get conflated. Yes, they are very different things. Anyone that thinks they're the same is being disingenuous or dumb. Anyone who thinks that there's no overlap between them is being dis...

Re: United States Politics Thread 46

One thing that bothers me is the impression I get that Muslims are responsible for the antisemitism, and leftists by extension. That doesn't square with my experience; that's anecdotal maybe, but I know first hand that right-wing white people are perfectly capable of antisemitism too. I once got in...
