Yay! I really ought to do the same with mine. Did you do anything special to unstick yourself?

Thanks guys! Another 2000 words yesterday even though I have a cold and expected to just stare foggily at my laptop screen.

I think it's a combination of a few factors, not least that I'm finally mostly recovered from the burnout I experienced. Also, though I have not at all strictly adhered to approach in the book, I read The Artist's Way a while ago and started doing morning pages intermittently, and I think this has really helped.

The last thing I can point at is that up until now my project has been a total disorganized mess, and I've made an effort to sort that out. I'm still finding bits and pieces of scenes I hadn't realized I'd already drafted in random notebooks, but most of it is in one place now and it feels much more manageable.

For the last few weeks, it's been the annual watch-the-bumblebees-collect-nectar-from-the-landlady's-lavender season again!

For me, with the added pleasure (cruel me) of watching our young cat stalk and pounce on them.

For which side does that usually end badly?

Significant bad endings happen for the bumble bees. I haven't calculated the cat's success rate. Besides, I'm not always sure what she's stalking., even on the lawn. She sometime seems to be stalking couch grass, which shouldn't present so much of a challenge. Our cat likes her salad, but has to go and get it herself.

I suppose she could be being stung. Cats are supposed to be good at hiding pain, and bumble bee stings seem mild. I'm now a bit too clumsy/lazy to pick bumble bees up by the wings (front pair clasped between thumb and forefinger), as I normally do/did with wasps and honey bees.

Many congratulations are in order! I have mini pickles and tea on standby for their obviously imminent development into a linguificulus/a.¹

¹ I mean, that is one of the theories for how children learn languages, isn't it? So I'm not doing anything unreasonable at all :D.
LZ – Lēri Ziwi
PS – Proto Sāzlakuic (ancestor of LZ)
PRk – Proto Rākēwuic
XI – Xú Iạlan
VN – verbal noun
SUP – supine
DIRECT – verbal directional
