What do you make of this social media statement?
All nerd hobbies can have the social structure of their communities quantitatively measured with the Q:N (Queer to Nazi) ratio. Pokémon is 8:1. Warhammer is 1:1. Paradox Games are 1:1 but different from Warhammer because the queers and Nazis are the same people.

It's true there are a bunch of Nazis in nerd spaces. The stereotype is that they are non-neurotypical people of various kinds, from the autistic to the learning disabled, who started out complaining about feminist media censorship (gamergate) and were then radicalized by 4chan.

Nazis are currently dominating the political space motivated by visceral emotions. This includes feelings non-neurotypicals get, such as when we feel like there's water rushing through us. As far as I can tell, the far left is the only hope we have to deliver us from the current quagmire where Nazis are mainstream and most viable alternatives are to the right of them.

The Q:N ratio is exceptionally high for board games (is my impression as neither; as in high on the queer side). Nazis who like board games usually try to play it down and cosplay as a rough-and-tumble manly man or an Ender's Game supergenius. Join us on boardgamearena.com or the BGA app.

Somewhat relatedly, I'm trying to piece together an alien-ish language I wrote notes for a long time ago (but after Hyperborea, which is one of my oldest conworlds and a fictional conduit to my other worlds). This language is spoken by the breakaway civilization, a conspiracy theory current among UFO enthusiasts, some but not all of whom are Nazis. So far, trying to put it together has been a highly non-trivial endeavor.

Not sure about that chronology. I think 4chan was a thing long before gg, and was, in fact, where the gg horror was organized.

Yes, but a lot of non-neurotypicals were pulled into 4chan after they were swept up in the gamergate mass hysteria.

The problem with this metric is that it does not take into account the big-L Libertarian population, e.g. free software development does not have that many Nazis per se but has lots of Libertarians.

Are you saying the metric is arguing these fandoms mainly consist of either one or the other, or are you saying Libertarians are a relevant group it should be considering?

Random: Trying to speak Hindi as a native Bengali speaker, most of my cognitive capacity is consumed trying to avoid the compound verb constructions that are pervasive in Bengali. I'm considering inserting compound verbs into the conlang I'm working on right now. But maybe not? It sounds a lot like English already, though the grammar is barely human.

I'm saying that in the free software world big-L Libertarians are a very relevant group, probably more so than Nazis.

Bengali: Ami baire kheye nebo.
Unscientific translation: I, on the outside, will eat take.

Hindi: Main bahar se khaunga.
Unscientific translation: I, from out there, will eat.

(Note: I'm not good at Hindi.)

Meaning: I will eat out.

Ah, you mean light verb constructions. Interesting to hear that Bengali uses them more than Hindi — I thought Hindi had a lot of them too.

Relevance depends on purpose, right? For example, Nazis tend to oppose queers despite all the useful idiots they've got simping for them.

True. You can use them in many Hindi sentences too.

Someone named Elizabeth Nolan Brown, who's an editor at the libertarian rag Reason, posted on social media:
My 4-year/old just learned about the concept of infinity and is now throwing a tantrum over it. “It’s weird! I don’t like it. I just want numbers to stop!”

I remember having a crying fit around that age when a babysitter told me that the sun would eventually expand and engulf the Earth in several billion years.

I remember having a minor freak-out when I was a bit older after I read that in a book.

At least 23 years for me, again with a break in the middle. I don't remember how long for, though, and I doubt anybody besides me cares..
