Bringing Together some of my Ideas: A Semi-Utopian Future Earth
Re: A post nuclear conworld - decades and centuries afterwards
A critique but your whole NAB (Not a Business) thing seems like it would just lead to endless pump and dump schemes amongst businesses completely killing their ability to build any sort of long term stable product i doubt the same people who create bubbles which crash would be happy to make a great company then just hand it off to the workers so for it to work you are considering a dramatic shift in social ethics. Also public owned company is just codeword for shareholders who need that sweet, sweet, sweet infinite growth which often leads to enshittification.

I assume that this was meant to be in my thread. First, by public, I don't mean shareholders, I mean the public authorities. Since there wouldn't be a stock market, there wouldn't be stock market bubbles, either. Since NABs wouldn't have private owners or investors, there would be no pressure for infinite growth.foxcatdog wrote: ↑Mon Jun 23, 2025 12:36 am A critique but your whole NAB (Not a Business) thing seems like it would just lead to endless pump and dump schemes amongst businesses completely killing their ability to build any sort of long term stable product i doubt the same people who create bubbles which crash would be happy to make a great company then just hand it off to the workers so for it to work you are considering a dramatic shift in social ethics. OK, thank you very much to zompist and Arzena for translating a slogan. Here are the flag and the logo of the Institutions of the United Earth in this scenario. Except that, in the scenario, in-universe, the actual design would have been done by some of the planet's most sought-after graphic designers at the time these symbols were adapted, and the writing would have been done by professional calligraphers, so while the basic idea would be the same as you can see here, of course the execution would be better:

Interesting design overall. On the left, the kaf looks a little close to the zì.
Re: Bringing Together some of my Ideas: A Semi-Utopian Future Earth
Yes, as I said, I'm not a graphic designer.

Posted something that I might end up using as a calendar in this scenario: https://www.verduria.org/viewtopic.php?t=1734

Did a not-very-good, English-might-be-incomprehensible-at-point, didn't-do-character-voices-because-of-lack-of-acting-talent miniature audiobook version of the two chapters of the novels I posted here, plus a brief excerpt from a later chapter for additional characterisation. Last part is imprint (legally required in Germany). About 10 mb, 22 minutes and 47 seconds:

Now the same in German, hopefully with fewer difficult-to-understand passages. Though unfortunately, a few brain farts led to some false words. Most importantly, at one point, something happening on a Wednesday is described as happening on a Saturday. At another point, a storage room is described as an office. I also unfortunately couldn't avoid misgendering one character at one point, because I'm still way too unsure about how to talk about nonbinary people in German. Again, the last part is the imprint, which is legally required in Germany. About 13 or 14 mb, 26 minutes and 31 seconds:Raphael wrote: ↑Wed Sep 09, 2026 1:31 am Did a not-very-good, English-might-be-incomprehensible-at-point, didn't-do-character-voices-because-of-lack-of-acting-talent miniature audiobook version of the two chapters of the novels I posted here, plus a brief excerpt from a later chapter for additional characterisation.

Wow, someone actually listened to it! Thank you! I wouldn't have expected that.
Thank you for the kind words about my reading skills. As for the accent, it's interesting that it sounds American to you. I'd have guessed it would be somewhere between German and "generic" myself. Though, of course, with the world working the way it does, "generic" can often mean "American".
As for the obligatory language practise correction...
