'Making Up Animal Names Without Referencing Other Animals' The Game
I had a game over at CBB which was the 'Animal Derivation Game' for creating animal names in terms of other things. However, it moved from describing qualities and traits of animals (bat = fuzz-wing; dog = hunt-friend) to merely describing animals in terms of other animals (bat = flying rat; dog = wolf.DIM). As such, I've revived it here with a clearer title.
The form is:
1. Person A gives a derivation for an animal suggested by Person B (me).
2. Person B suggests an animal to have a derivation provided for.
3. Person C gives a derivation for Person B's suggestion.
4. Person C suggests an animal to have a derivation provided for.
5. Rinse and repeat.
So I'll start.
cow = milk-giver
next animal: mouse

Hey, not a bad idea!
mouse=long.tail-DIM
Next: tapir
Let’s see, how about:
mouse=long.tail-DIM
Next: tapir
My name means either "person who trumpets minor points of learning" or "maker of words." That fact that it means the latter in Sindarin is a demonstration of the former. Beware.

A word to you both, mèþru and alynnidalar: I think holbuzvala was saying that we should try not to use animal names in the glosses. Just for the rules’ sake.
Anyway:
Raccoon=hands-DIM-animal OR black-mask
Next: parrot
PS. Hey, holbuzvala, are we allowed to try mythical animals as well?

@Pedant, your point to methru and alynnidalar was well made - I can see whence comes your name. Also, mythical animals are fine, and should be interesting as many are amalgams of extant animals.
