Updated stuff

Post by zompist »

A mini-project for the weekend: I updated the Verdurian grammar to use the Verdurian alphabet for the examples.

Thanks again to vegfarandi for pointing out how to do it!

Buona!

It's going to take me a long time to go through the grammar and read each example... I do plan to though.

Incredible, very cool. Do you use the SCA to convert the Latin samples to the correct characters before applying the font? I'm noticing when I copy the Verdurian samples, the characters are not mapped the same way in Unicode.

The Verdurian font uses the same mapping of my Maraille font, which I used in the pre-Unicode era— texts can be transliterated just by changing fonts.

I should see if I can add the Unicode code points to the font so the same thing works!

I just did it all by hand, since I could do that faster than copying each bit into another document and retrieving it.

Pretty cool!

By the way, I'd like to inform anyone reading this that Neocities, which allows you to put up webpages for free (only frontend, no PHP/Python/etc. "backend"), allows this same thing to be accomplished via a font in the .eot, .ttf, .woff, .woff2, .svg or .otf formats. So you can also manage to show your conlangs this way, once you have a font...

It is possible it looks better on Windows, but on Firefox-on-Linux and Chrome-on-Android, the Verdurian font could be a bit bigger...

Try it again. I removed the font size command I was using.

Ah yes, the new size is definitely an improvement on my end.

As someone reading this page for the first time, I just want to note that this part is confusing: the capitalisation rules use the word "title" in two different senses as an example both of things that get a capital first letter and things that don't. It's clear once you get to the second usage because of the "and honorifics", but gives the wrong impression on first reading.
