It would be extraordinary to have something perfectly ordinary.

More: show
I feel that the English translation doesn’t really work too well — it’s too wordy. With different word order it would straightforwardly be ‘Something perfectly ordinary would be extraordinary’, but English doesn’t have any nice way to place the complement at the beginning of the sentence. Of course the Germanic copula allows switching the two arguments giving ‘Extraordinary would be something perfectly ordinary’, but that sounds formal nearly to the point of ungrammaticality. The sentence above is the best I could do otherwise.

According to the Oxford Guide to the Romance Languages, the two Old French cases [i.e. nominative vs. oblique] were retained in two Arpitan varieties.

S'eul Frincau-Previnçol ed lo Mauriane, euz sunt n'in quîma si lés ortiques définis singuilares.
[sɞl fχãkopχɞvãsɔl ɞd lɔ moχjan | ɞz sɞ̃ nã kima si lez ͜ ɔχtik defini sãɡilaχ]
In the variety of La Maurienne, they're only in the singular definite articles.

Mas s'eul in dji Volas, si lo Sisse, lés naounes é lés odjactifs itchiliset lo taminochun -s in itchilisint o lo prédicative.
[ma sɞl ã d͡ʒi vɔla | si lɔ sis | le naun e lez ͜ ɔd͡ʒaktis ͜ it͡ʃiliz lɔ taminɔʃɞ̃ as ã it͡ʃilizã pu ɔ lɔ pχedikativ]
But in the one spoken in Valais, in Switzerland, nouns and adjectives take the morphological ending -s when used predicatively.

Dunc, ch'atrous punt framin sirpris sin m'vouyint ine lingue frincau-previnçole vaque in pé-'cou dji cos.
[dɞ̃ | ʃ ͜ atχu pɞ̃ fχamã siχpχi sã m ͜ vujã in lãɡ fχãkopχɞvãsɔl vak ã peku d͡ʒi kɔs]
So I wouldn't really be surprised if I saw an Arpitan dialect with a bit more case marking.
