Over the years, I have promised myself that I would finally ditch problematic and right wing media and in particular that I would clean out my music collection. Unfortunately it seems that every time I find a song that resonates with me, its originators are inevitably revealed as reactionaries or rapists or something. Conversely it seems like overtly leftist music or music with distinct approval from the left has become rather uncommon these days. The few examples I have heard just don't seem to click with me, whether because my tastes differ or I fall so far outside the target demographic.

The word "problematic" itself is problematic.

May I ask what your favourite music genre is? Is it something that is very popular with the far right? Because I don't have that problem (my favourite genre is prog rock, where many musicians hold progressive viewpoints, and very few reactionary ones). But I don't like protest songs, either; they make sense at a political rally, but aren't really fun.

It is a truth universally acknowledged that If you look hard enough into the history of any artist whose work you like, you are guranteed to find something to object to. The stronger your ideological commitments, the sooner you will find it.

I don't think anyone actually knows.

(If you haven't heard, the president declared martial law, unnanounced, late at night, for obscure reasons¹. Even the leader of his own party committed to trying to prevent it, and the opposition is trying to convene the national assembly to vote to stop it²)

¹ the official reason is North Korea, but it probably has more to do with the opposition in charge of the National Assembly heavily ammending his budget
² I think the president has the power to declare martial law, but the national assembly cam veto it

Edit: according to the BBC¹, the national assembly did its no martial law vote. I don't think anyone knows what happens next

¹ they say both Reuters and Yonhap news agencies are reporting this
LZ – Lēri Ziwi
PS – Proto Sāzlakuic (ancestor of LZ)
PRk – Proto Rākēwuic
XI – Xú Iạlan
VN – verbal noun
SUP – supine
DIRECT – verbal directional

The Guardian reports that, according to the constitution, the President must lift martial law when enjoined to do so by a majority vote of the national assembly, but there is no stated timeframe for this. Army spokespersons say they will not lift martial law until commanded to by the President. However, they seem to be allowing people to peacefully assemble in the meantime.

... and now the cabinet has officially rubber-stamped the lifting of martial law. What gets me though, is why would Yoon do this and still follow through with the legal processes if he knew that the National Assembly (in which the opposition has a majority) would block martial law? Was it that he was planning on instituting authoritarian rule but decided to back down when the present MP's for his own party also voted to block martial law unanimously as well?

And at this point it seems like Yoon's political future, if he had one already, is now fucked.

Reportedly legislators are preparing impeachment proceedings and will introduce them during the regular session tomorrow.

I can only assumed that he gambled his party would support him and lost his nerve when they didn't.

Meanwhile, protestors on the streets of Tblisi for the sixth night in a row with no resolution to that crisis in sight.
