Do you ever use the abbreviation "bday" in speech?

Post by Space60 »

I have heard some people use the abbreviation "bday" for "birthday" in speech. It always sounds strange to me when used in speech.

I use it in casual speech "Yeah, I went to his bday party", but if I'm emphasizing the word I will say the full phrase.

Actually saying 'bday' to me feels like a written abbreviation intruding in actual speech and seems strange and forced to me.

"bday" is something you sit on to clean your private parts, for deity's sake!

We washed our hands of him, and lived happily ever after."

this "BDay" is also shortened in washrooms,
even in the country where it was born...
