There seems to be trouble loading the Board again.

I had major trouble using the board earlier today, but it's working fine now.

zompist wrote: Fri May 19, 2023 10:30 pmOh, just for a bit more context: the old board (now preserved in amber, thanks to brad's work, at incatena.org) did have automatic 1-year pruning on Ephemera.

I would also trim but not eliminate some very long threads... I don't think we need 250 pages of Random.
The amber has been shattered; incatena.org now shows a Dreamhost holding page. :(

Mmm, yeah, Dreamhost send me mail a bit back saying they'd disabled the site because it was causing problems on the server or something. Got to look into it. Since it's locked, the only thing I can think of is some kind of excessive traffic.

I got a new error message saying "Too many requests". Also, perhaps coincidentally but I reckon not, we got the highest number of people online (well "people") five days ago. And in fact simultaneously to the hour, the dreaded Other Site also had a record number of online "people". Might this excessive bot traffic be related to the problems with the old board?

On the other hand, I’m not seeing any errors…

More and more and more "too many requests"-pages.

I strongly recommend that, whenever you try to post something, you highlight everything in the "post" box and use the copy function on it before clicking on "submit".

Also it seems like there are far more guests than usual with this appearing on the front page under "Who is online":
In total there are 154 users online :: 4 registered, 0 hidden and 150 guests (based on users active over the past 5 minutes)
Most users ever online was 1636 on Sun Mar 02, 2025 4:44 am

Yeah... obviously we don't have that many users, it has to be bots.

Maybe you should try disabling guest access again?

I have occasional topics so flagged, but lately it seems that I get a notification for a topic reply that happened hours earlier and that I've seen already.
