Conlang Random Thread
Re: Conlang Random Thread
I thought the stele had been found, but had quite a different ending in the text?

Re: Conlang Random Thread
From what I recall reading, they did indeed find a stele with the first two lines, but the "kill kill kill kill kill kill kill" line was replaced with something different.
Yaaludinuya siima d'at yiseka wohadetafa gaare.
Ennadinut'a gaare d'ate eetatadi siiman.
T'awraa t'awraa t'awraa t'awraa t'awraa t'awraa t'awraa.

So the Lord scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city. That is why it was called Babel—because there the Lord confused the language of the whole world. Genesis 11: 8-9a (NIV)

Guys, I'm not sure how to say this, but I've decided to begin a new conlang...for the Minecraft city I want to build.

The latest post on Language Log is about a study involving conlangs: https://languagelog.ldc.upenn.edu/nll/?p=68857
Turns out that processing conlangs in the human brain is done by the same brain regions that process natlangs. I can't say I'm surprised to hear that, though - which other brain regions would do that?

I'd imagine that they could just go ahead and label it as the language processing area, I'd think no different if I was told that the same part of my brain that tells me to speak and understand English tells me to speak and understand Esperanto or Klingon, too. it'd definitely be weirder if the brain used a different region for each.Raphael wrote: ↑Thu Apr 17, 2025 9:35 am The latest post on Language Log is about a study involving conlangs: https://languagelog.ldc.upenn.edu/nll/?p=68857

I can't say I ever considered otherwise.

I could imagine Ithkuil needing the more mathematical parts of the brain :).

Btw, what started the tea & pickles thing?
Re: Conlang Random Thread
I doubt that anyone these days remembers that. It was already done in the 2000s.
