The academics are not the ones putting up paywalls. Believe me, everyone hates Elsevier.

On the practical side of things, you can access some (not all, alas) academic papers through some public or university libraries; you'll need a library card for a relatively modest fee. As if the pressurization is somehow not the way it should be. Apparently it started when I got out of the shower today. OK, I'll wait and see how it develops.

Try massaging the fleshy part behind the ear and yawning. See if that helps or even clears something out if there's earwax of something obstructing the ear canal.

The fact that it started when you got out of the shower implies that you might have gotten water in your ear. I would just wait and see if it sorts itself at this point, because if it's just water in your ear it should self-resolve.

Eternally grateful this is possible. I've had decent luck just findig theses and reports. I'd like the other problems address in good faith from them. Society depends too much on scholasticism (as it should be) to be making it a business for jet-setters

Slightly belated: anymore, most grants and institutions have a condition of making publications openly accessible as part of the funding. My current grant with which I am working in Luxembourg has this, as did many of my other grants. Linguistcat's approach actually is the one I would go for if the paper's not accessible online or if you don't have access through your institution, but, to be honest, at least 80% of current output at least in my field (I estimate) is open access.* Also noteworthy is that textbooks are often a lot cheaper outside the US for reasons I don't quite get, but alas.

*This comes with the caveat that most of the journals under this model charge a fee to the authors instead of to the readers. Some are reasonable, typically $2000-$3000, but some are very much not; I think my most expensive article had a processing fee that was close to €5500, and my previous boss's Nature Chemistry publication cost him €12000.

I wasn't here to vent when it happened, but the lead singer of my absolute favorite band passed away a couple months ago and I'm still quite bummed about it (and since she was a German artist that no-one here in the States has heard of, it's been kind of a lonely being bummed as well, so I take venting opportunities when I can get them)
