Řom Indisposed!

Nothing to add. Glad he's gone. Ozë fsëgda altun

Meta: in trying to translate Sic semper tyrannis to Cadhinor, I noticed that the lexicon has no separate entry for 'tyrant'. What would the idiomatic construction be for that word when Ilcorea and Genremos discuss political philosophy?
Deep in the human unconscious is a pervasive need for a logical universe that makes sense. But the real universe is always one step beyond logic.

Good question... I think there is not likely to be a simple term. The Romans could examine multiple forms of government in Greece and elsewhere, but the Caďinorians really didn't have that experience. Their emperors were already absolute sovereigns, above the law, and even the best of them could ignore what consultative bodies existed. There might be some more verbose options, however.

The Cuzeian emperors, and the Šadoroi, were considered tyrannical; one could talk about a nactec Marosiei, a ruler (like) Mairōusias, or even stronger, a nactec is lisucrionin, a ruler from the ktuvoks.

Once Cuzeian learning was available, you could talk about the Sword of Zeilisio. Learned readers might understand Cuezi zîtenarrûos 'emperor'.

The Red Cabal was the prototypical example of tyranny, but this was only at the end of the ancient period. In medieval Caďinor you could refer to a claetiles 'Caballist'.

(If it's not clear, don't try to invent something based on Verdurian altu.)

Noooo, spoilers!

More seriously, he was going to die at some point, and I'd guessed he might be the last in his particular job, but I'm waiting until the books come out, and then buying them, so I'm stuck before the Almean War.

You may get some traction by snapping the pointer: sic semper tyrannis is a Latin paraphrase of a quote from the Odyssey which Scipio Aemilianus is alleged to have used upon hearing of the assassination of Tiberius Sempronius Gracchus, ὡς ἀπόλοιτο καὶ ἄλλος, ὅτις τοιαῦτά γε ῥέζοι so too may perish utterly any other who does such things.

It kinda is, so I changed the title of the post. I mean, it is nice to not reveal too much to the dozen or so people who read Almea: Industrial Age and haven't followed the Patreon.

(Just checked... 37 people have bought AIA, which is quite a lot for a somewhat expensive bit of para-history, but isn't a horde of people. On the other hand, it may just need time. 159 people have bought the Historical Atlas.)

It surprises me a bit it's around a dozen, although I suppose most people who would read a book about fictional history would be on the patreon already, and I'm obviously a bit biased to what I'm doing myself to be normal.

Unrelatedly & entirely self-servingly, may I ask if you have any idea as to when the Almea: [I can't remember] age will come out, or if it is when the history is finished and Patreoned, over the next few years or so?

The provisional title is Almea: Space Age. I can't provide a date yet, but probably 2026 or 2027. Before GRRM's next book, at least.

If GRRM releases before i'm saying your challenge provoked him to work harder.

Borrowed this from someone on Metafilter:
In the movie Logan Lucky, one of the plot points is a prison riot in which the prisoners are demanding the library finally put in Winds of Winter, and are incredulous when they learn it still isn’t finished.

Logan Lucky came out 8 years ago.
