I've noticed that for quite a while now, I've usually been able to get out of the bed in the morning, not too long after my alarm rings. For pretty much all my adult life, and my teenage life before that, that has been near impossible for me. So that's good news.

My man Andre romped home in last night's runoff. He netted a thousand-plus more votes than O'Connor, beating him by 8 points. I was really worried it would be a nail-biter. (In the 46th ward, the incumbent is leading by just 23 votes and we won't know the result until all the mail-ins are counted.) But it ended up being one of the first races called.

A) Congratulations! I'm happy for you!
B) How exactly does one win a Linguistics Olympiad?

I'd love to know. Does it involve months of rigorous training with all kinds of phonemes?

My line editor for hashforth is now fully functional, including a working autocomplete feature. Now to be even more complete, what it needs is a history search feature and saving the history to file, but these are both things that seem optional to me.

In random happy things, after a disastrous failure in November, I managed to get tickets to see Rammstein when they play in Luxembourg in July. (insert excited bouncing)

I saw a cimbasso the other day (in the modern sense). I didn't know that's what it was, because I've never been into that sort of thing, but I worked it out later. People were gathered around it pestering its owner to explain what it was...

Did the owner at least play it?

What is it on in particular?
Well, fuck, I took a little hiatus. The paper takes the observation that the Muskogee verb is divided into two parts, the Stem and the Outer Suffixes, and just runs with it. It focuses on grade morphology and how it affects the form and the meaning of both parts of the verb. From there it goes into the implications for a phase=based theory of morphology.

Right now I’m finishing up draft 2.5. Hopefully it just needs one more solid round of revision and I can submit.

Why is it called IDAHOT and not IDABHOT or something?

If I had to guess, it's because IDAHOT is pronounceable as an acronym.
