Now it's Janko time! Numerals The numeral system in Classical Sitr was decimal, with 20 and 30 being irregular, and there's an archaic irregular form for 50 alongside with the regular form, with tens formed suffix -dal; also, Classical Sitr uses a system based on 100,000 and 10,000,000 when it comes...

it once was true, but it caused practical issues like the chaos in commanding, so they finally reintroduced military ranks.TomHChappell wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2019 6:40 pm Isn’t it true in the Red Chinese military individuals have no rank? An isolating language where there are no adpositions, and there are no inflectional affixes and productive derivational affixes either, all meanings of adpositions are conveyed by the use of verbs and nouns(and the language has serial verb construction), and most conjunctions are from content words(...

I decide to introduce Serial Verb Construction(which is an extension of the use of "manner" I have previously described) into Classical Sitr as a part of the syntax. Serial Verb Construction Classical Sitr has Serial Verb Construction, in which two or more verbs or verb phrases are strung ...

1. create non-derived words(roots) and derivational affixes 2. see how natlangs derive words 3. calque compound words and derived words from natlangs, you can calque from Latin, Greek, German, Dutch, Chinese, etc. Also you can take a look at this: https://linguifex.com/wiki/Guide:Derivations For a l...

Any possible medial cluster restriction? not sure yet...but I guess at least plosives must be both voiced or both voiceless. This is optional, but probably you may instead generalize definite suffix into a noun marker instead of dropping it. It occurs in some Oceanic languages. this might have happ...

Nicely done! The one thing I might recommend to you is possibly adjusting the script a little bit so that the glyphs don’t resemble one another as much. I tried writing out a few sentences with it, and it was a little monotonous after a while--not to mention that for anyone with any kind of dyslexi...

Looking good! A minor thing: people don't normally describe it as split ergativity when a language has erg/abs case-marking but subject (nominative) agreement. thanks >< as for the wording, I used the name split ergativity as I saw Wikipedia listing it as so, but thanks for reminding. Why do you ca...

Re: Need help with my triconsonantal root language
well I guess take a look at the Wikipedia's article for Biblical Hebrew, modern Hebrew Grammar and Arabic grammar, including introductions to the broken plural in Arabic.
btw, I recently have also started a semitic-like language with triliteral roots.

well even Japanese, which is cited by some as a language without swear words, does seem to actually have some words that can be seen as swear words, at least under certain contexts: https://www.rypeapp.com/blog/japanese-swear-words/ https://soranews24.com/2016/09/22/w-t-f-japan-top-5-most-offensive-...

Re: Can phonemic mergers reverse?
1. if there are certain phonological conditions that could make the originally merged phonemes split again
2. if they borrow words from dialects or the learned variant where the phonemes are still distinct, but borrowing is not a phonological process
