I need to think about how how my relative pronouns fit together with SOV-order. This sentence was composed in quite an improvised way.
You have SOV, postpositions, preposed possessives ... your language would probably tend to have relative clauses before their heads and with the relativising element probably last within the relative clause. That said though, that "must" after the subject makes it look much more like German word order and German has relative clauses after the noun (with the option of making some long, heavy participle phrases before the noun instead, but it's only really done in formal written German). DGS also has SOV word order, but relative clauses come after their heads with the relative pronoun first. (Nouns modified by a relative pronoun tend to be topicalised and fronted along with their relative clause, but the relative clause still follows its head.) You're free to do what you like.

(Context: this is a new language which I’m developing, and I’m struggling to decide which one of the romanizations above I like most. Since I can’t decide, I thought that I would ask here to see what everyone else prefers. Romanization (1) is just minimally altered IPA, and (2)–(4) get progressively less IPA-like. The phonology is here if anyone wants to know.)

It doesn’t contrast, since every syllable must have an onset.
