I thought so, but figured it was worth a guess. OK then… Is it a North American language? (I don’t have much confidence in this guess either, but I can’t think of anything better.)

Is it Nilo-Saharan? If not, then I’m pretty sure it’s Chadic.

Alright, so… This uses both ⟨ˀn⟩ and ⟨č⟩, suggesting some variant of Americanist notation, and the presence of at least one glottalised nasal. Is it Penutian?Karch wrote: ↑Sat May 09, 2020 12:08 pmMystery language wrote:waminá kawičí nawésama éči kapitáni jeanée: buwirási siˀnéami mapoˀná éči warubéra simínama. gará wačinási buwé. arí bičé waminá kawičí we gará nawéska pagóri éči juáni. arí bičé bačá nawésari mapurigá siˀnéami aučé siˀnú garabéara ˀnatáma mapurigá wikáwarami níima mapurigá we čáti orári.

Re: Name That Language!
Well, the only j's in the entire passage are in what looks like the names Jean and Juan, and one of those is preceded by a word that looks a lot like "captain", so .... my first thought was that it was spoken somewhere on the border between French and Spanish speaking territories, probably by the sea .... but that isnt helping me since the languages spoken in e.g. Guyana seem to look nothing like this. Also, the only cluster in the entire text is /sk/. I have never seen a language that has /ˀn/ without having at least one other glottalized consonant, so unless this is a very selectively chosen text, that is probably the biggest clue we have.
As usual Im completely stumped, ... I can only notice the patterns.

It's neither Penutian nor spoken in South America, though it's spoken in a Spanish-speaking country
